Darren Sproles Re-Signs with Eagles on New Contract
Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman announced Saturday that the team has re-signed running back Darren Sproles after his 2017 campaign was cut short in Week 3, when he suffered a torn ACL and broken arm.
"It's been a priority to get Darren back," Roseman said, according to Dave Spadaro of the team's official website. "We all wanted Darren back. He's a freak. We're very optimistic with where he is."
Terms of the agreement were not immediately disclosed.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Sproles was dealt to the Eagles in a March 2014 trade with the New Orleans Saints, and he became a staple of the team's offense instantly.
The 5'6" speedster earned Pro Bowl nods with the Philadelphia Eagles after the 2014 and 2015 seasons, and he scored another selection to the All-Star showcase after the team underwent a regime change prior to the 2016 campaign.
All told, Sproles tallied 438 rushing yards and two scores on the ground in addition to 52 catches for 423 receiving yards and another two touchdowns through the air during head coach Doug Pederson's first year at the helm.
The 34-year-old continued to serve as the team's primary punt returner as well, and he turned in some stellar numbers, as he ripped off a career-high 13.2 yards per punt return despite failing to record a special teams touchdown for the first time since 2013.
"I mean this in the most complimentary way possible: He's a freak," former Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich said, per the Philadelphia Inquirer's Zach Berman. "He is a genetic and physical specimen. We all know the size thing, but he's probably the strongest guy pound-for-pound on the team. There's something to be said for that."
Sproles figured to be featured quite a bit in the Philly backfield in 2017 because the team didn't add a feature back in the offseason. However, those plans were altered in Week 3 against the New York Giants when his season was cut short because of the aforementioned injuries.
Now slated for a return to the gridiron, the owner of the eighth-most all-purpose yards in NFL history will attempt to write a storybook ending to his professional career as the Eagles aim to become the first repeat Super Bowl champions since the 2004-05 New England Patriots.
