Tyronn Lue Comments on How Playoff Run Has Lessened LeBron James' Burden
LeBron James is in the midst of the easiest postseason of his career—at least according to Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue.
According to ESPN.com's Dave McMenamin, Lue believes with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love's elevated play, James is feeling less pressure to single-handedly guide his team through the the playoffs:
"I don't think he's been in this position before where he can just sit back and see the flow of the game, see where he has to take over the game and it's been great for him. I mean, to average 23 points or 24 points and sweep both series is big for us because now our other guys are stepping up, they're playing well and we know LeBron always can play well.
"
The Cavaliers are 8-0 this postseason and have received nearly a week's rest awaiting the winner of the Miami Heat-Toronto Raptors series. Cleveland completed its second-round sweep of the Atlanta Hawks on May 8.
Lue has an argument. Irving is averaging 24.4 points per game and is hitting 53.8 percent of his threes, while Love is averaging a double-double with 18.9 points and 12.5 rebounds per contest. NBA.com noted Cleveland has been unbeatable in the playoffs when Irving, James and Love are in the lineup:
Cleveland is shooting 46.1 percent as a team this postseason and is breaking records while hitting 46.2 percent of its threes. The team as a whole is just clicking at the moment.
James never received such a well-rounded team effort during his time in Miami, as Chris Bosh has never finished a postseason averaging a double-double.
The Cavaliers are one of the most complete teams in basketball along with the Golden State Warriors. With James playing 38.8 minutes a game, a near career low in the playoffs, he may have enough left in the tank to bring Cleveland a championship this season.
