Spurs Set Franchise Record with 64th Win of Season

Bleacher Report MilestonesApr 3, 2016

The San Antonio Spurs picked up their 64th victory of the 2015-16 campaign Saturday night against the Toronto Raptors, and they set a new franchise record for most wins in a season, per the Spurs' official Twitter account.

Led by a career-high 33 points from forward Kawhi Leonard, along with 31 points from forward LaMarcus Aldridge, the Spurs eked out a 102-95 victory against a Toronto squad that rested star guards Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan.

Now boasting a 48-game home winning streak that dates back to March 12, 2015, the Spurs need just two more victories to become the first team in NBA history to finish a season without any losses at home.

Finishing things off won't be an easy task, however, as San Antonio's final two home games will be played against the Golden State Warriors (April 10) and Oklahoma City Thunder (April 12)—the two biggest threats to eliminate the Spurs from the Western Conference playoffs.

The Warriors lost at home for the first time all season Friday against the Boston Celtics, which ensured that the Spurs won't have to share the new record if they do finish undefeated at home.

Golden State still owns the record for longest home winning streak in NBA history, having won 54 consecutive regular-season games at Oracle Arena prior to Friday night.

To best the record, San Antonio would have to finish out this season undefeated at home, then win its first five home games of the 2016-17 campaign.
