NBA Betting Preview: Los Angeles Clippers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Odds

OddsShark.comMar 31, 2016

The last time the Los Angeles Clippers visited the Oklahoma City Thunder, they lost 120-108 as six-point road underdogs March 9. The previous meeting saw Oklahoma City blow a 22-point lead in a 103-98 loss at Los Angeles as a 1.5-point road favorite a week earlier after winning 100-99 as two-point chalk there December 21.

The Clippers can earn a split of the regular-season series Thursday with an upset of the Thunder as consensus 8.5-point road dogs at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark.

While it is possible that these teams could square off again in the Western Conference Finals, that scenario seems highly unlikely considering they would each have to take out the top two seeds, the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs.

Oklahoma City is entrenched in the No. 3 spot, while Los Angeles will likely finish No. 4 in the West and earn home-court advantage in a potential first-round matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies. Regardless, they both need to start gearing up for the postseason, starting with Thursday's matchup at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

The Clippers have won their last four games—going 3-1 against the spread—since dropping five of six. They have covered their last three following a 1-8 run ATS and play just one more team with a record over .500 the rest of the way when they host Memphis on April 12 in a possible playoff preview. The under has cashed in their last five.

Meanwhile, the Thunder saw their eight-game winning streak come to an end when they lost 88-82 to the Detroit Pistons as 1.5-point road underdogs on Tuesday. They played that game at Detroit without leading scorer Kevin Durant and top defender Serge Ibaka due to rest.

Oklahoma City had its lowest-scoring game of the season against the Pistons after averaging 117.3 points in winning its previous eight.

Before the Thunder failed to cover three of the past four meetings with Los Angeles, they had gone 5-2 straight up and 6-1 ATS in the previous seven, according to the Odds Shark NBA Database. The under is 6-3 in the last nine games between them, but the total went over in the most recent meeting at Oklahoma City.
