What We Learned from Super Bowl 50 Opening Night
The Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers took the stage to answer the media’s questions Monday night, and their responses were enlightening.
Fans got answers to everything they could have wanted to know, from Denver quarterback Peyton Manning’s future to how much the Broncos secondary spends on jewelry.
Here are some of the highlights from the first Super Bowl media availability in prime time.

Colts Release Kenny Moore

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Peyton Is Probably Retiring, but He Still Won’t Say for Sure
Manning had some fun when reporters asked him about telling Bill Belichick this might be his “last rodeo.”
"I'm going to go participate in rodeos now,” Manning joked Monday, according to Will Brinson of CBS Sports. “I've got the lasso. You've totally missed the point."
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports that Manning has told close friends he will retire after the Super Bowl. Manning didn’t give an official answer Monday but said he knows the end of his career is getting close.
He said he wanted to express his appreciation to the Patriots head coach and his quarterback, Tom Brady.
“But I understand this really could be it, and I wanted to tell both of them I really have enjoyed these games,” Manning said, per Brinson.
Cam Newton Won’t Apologize for Celebrating
People continue to take issue with Cam Newton’s touchdown celebrations, but he continues not to pay any attention.
The Panthers quarterback and likely NFL MVP said he doesn’t plan on changing the way he plays the game, so people better get used to it.
"I'm not hurting their feelings," he said, per Lorenzo Reyes of USA Today. "I'm not doing anything to break their bones. I'm just doing something that makes me happy."
Manning actually voiced his support for how Newton carries himself.
“I think his passion, his enthusiasm for the game, I think it’s great,” Manning said, according to Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver Post. “I think it’s good for football.”
The Broncos Defense Spent a Lot of Money on Jewelry
Denver had the No. 1 pass defense in the NFL this season. Cornerback Aqib Talib and safety T.J. Ward were a major part of that success, and it looks like they treated themselves to a reward.
Talib showed off his Rolex, which he said was worth $80,000.

Ward was sporting a diamond encrusted necklace with the face of Jesus hanging from it. That necklace also cost $80,000.
A reporter offered Panthers All-Pro cornerback Josh Norman a wrestling mask Monday night, according to Des Bieler of the Washington Post.
Norman didn’t shut the reporter down, as he’s done with plenty of receivers this season. Instead, he put it on and wore it for the rest of his media session.

The only problem for Norman is if the Panthers win the Super Bowl, he’ll likely be asked to do his entire postgame press conference in the mask.
Newton’s Son Might Be Walking Already
It’s typical for parents to brag about the achievements of their children. So when Newton took the podium Monday night, he spoke about his son, Chosen.
"Bruuuuuuuuuh, I love my QB, man. pic.twitter.com/O7XcLcvNHv

“I was going to bring little Chosen with me, but I didn’t think he could walk down the steps yet,” Newton said on NFL Network. “He’s already walking, if you ain’t know. He’s a month old.”
Maybe this was just a proud parent exaggerating about his firstborn child. But what if he wasn’t? Newton is 6’5” and 250 pounds, and he’s the most physically talented quarterback the NFL has seen in years.
If anyone could pass on the genes necessary for an infant to walk as a one-month old, it would be Newton.
