Christine Michael to Seahawks: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction
Running back Christine Michael has another shot to make a difference in an NFL backfield.
A day after Michael was released by the Washington Redskins, the Seattle Seahawks signed him to the 53-man roster on Wednesday, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The Dallas Cowboys acquired Michael from the Seahawks via trade before the season started, but the physical runner never made much of an impact. He was inactive the first three contests and only tallied 51 rushing yards on 15 carries in five games, thanks to health concerns and general ineffectiveness.

The Cowboys released Michael on Nov. 17.
"It's a humbling experience," Michael told reporters. "I'm here to work and give all I have. That's all I want to do."
Head coach Pete Carroll said Michael had a "great offseason" and was in "fantastic shape," adding the decision to part with him earlier in the season had more to do with Thomas Rawls' emergence, per Brady Henderson of ESPN.
Michael never had much opportunity to break out with the Seahawks in his first stint with the team because he found himself behind workhorse Marshawn Lynch on the depth chart. It is an ironic twist that Seattle could have used him this year because Lynch and Thomas Rawls are both dealing with significant injuries.
In all, Michael posted 79 rushing yards on 18 carries in 2013 and 175 rushing yards on 34 carries in 2014 as a spot-duty back for the two-time defending NFC champion Seahawks.
Seattle drafted Michael in the second round out of Texas A&M after he turned plenty of heads with 35 total touchdowns in four seasons. He was a physical force at 5’10” and 221 pounds but also possessed enough speed and elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field.
Marc Sessler of NFL.com praised Michael in an early scouting report:
"The sample size is thin, but Michael bursts off the screen. He runs with a low center of gravity and a heavy dose of power. While dishing out punishment, the 5-foot-10, 221-pounder still has the wheels to dart away from would-be tacklers into the second level and beyond…Michael's burst through the line helped him regularly chew up six, seven and eight yards per rush.
"
There is room for someone with that type of talent in the league, especially during such an injury-plagued campaign for the running back position in Seattle. A number of notable runners have gone down to injury in 2015, including Lynch, Rawls, Le’Veon Bell and Jamaal Charles.
Perhaps the healthy and fresh Michael can provide a critical boost for the Seahawks down the stretch run as the playoffs approach.
