Dave Joerger: Latest News, Rumors, Speculation on Grizzlies Coach's Future
Memphis Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger could be on the hot seat just six games into the season.
The speculation comes on the heels of 105 wins in his first two years as Memphis' coach and a 3-3 start to the 2015-16 campaign.

People Within the Organization Fear Joerger Could Be Fired Soon
Friday, Nov. 6
While Memphis' 3-3 record has been disappointing, the Memphis brass is more upset that the Grizzlies' losses have not been close, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.com:
"Yet it’s the manner of the three defeats, sources say, that has led to fears within the organization that owner Robert Pera won’t wait long to make a drastic change. The Grizzlies lost their home opener to the Cavs by 30, got blitzed soon thereafter by Cleveland’s conquerors in the NBA Finals by an unfathomable 50, then fell behind by 26 points in the Pacific Northwest before settling for a 19-point defeat to the Blazers.
To put it another way: Memphis has already trailed by 20 points or more for 62 minutes this season ... compared to 88 minutes for the whole of 2014-15.
"
While those losses were bad, a move six games into the season would seem to be a knee-jerk reaction. As Kurt Helin of ProBasketballTalk wrote about the situation Friday, "Welcome to life as an NBA coach."
Even CBS Sports hinted a move could be coming early:
Helin noted Joerger feels his team has looked old. The reporter also pointed out the physical style Memphis plays—with aging big men Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph underneath—is not suited to keep up with the run-and-gun style the champion Golden State Warriors showcased last season.
Memphis signed Joerger to a contract extension with a fifth-year team option in May 2014 after allowing him to speak with the Minnesota Timberwolves about their vacant head-coaching position. However, when it comes to team owners not being happy with a coach, not much else matters.
The Grizzlies are 1-2 in the middle of a five-game road trip that includes games against the Utah Jazz on Nov. 7 and Los Angeles Clippers on Nov. 9. If the reports are true, losses in those games could end Joerger's tenure with Memphis.
