WWE Hell in a Cell 2015 Matches: Best Finishes for Each Match on the Card

Aaron BowerOct 22, 2015

With Survivor Series, one of WWE's traditional big four pay-per-views, fast on the horizon, getting the big calls right at Hell in a Cell on Sunday is vital for business to pick up.

Whether that's the right people retaining their respective titles or vital interferences that could crucially set up new feuds and end existing ones, there is plenty to be decided this weekend.

Ensuring the right finish—be it the destination of a title or the interferences that matter—is a crucial task for any pay-per-view. But Hell in a Cell has the feel of a show that needs to go really well.

With that said, here's the best finish for every match on the card to ensure things heat up as WWE heads toward Survivor Series.

Charlotte vs. Nikki Bella

1 of 7

Charlotte’s first defense of her WWE Divas Championship should likely result in a victory, as it would be unthinkable to see the belt go back to Nikki Bella in such a short space of time.

But when planning out the best finish for this match, which has failed to capture the imagination so far, it might be best to think outside the box. There's no problem if Charlotte is handed a solid, clean victory, but what happens afterward will be most enthralling.

Have her retain and celebrate with Becky Lynch after the match, before Paige’s music hits and she makes her way down the ramp, cheering and applauding so it looks like she’s going to join in with Team PCB.

But when she gets in the ring and raises Charlotte’s hand, she lays her out in the middle of the ring, completing a full heel turn in the process. That’s the way Paige has been gradually moving toward for a few weeks now, and that turn needs to be completed at Hell in a Cell.

It would set up Paige vs. Charlotte in the coming weeks, as well as a far more exciting future for the Divas title.

Kevin Owens vs. Ryback

2 of 7

How do you best book a match that is almost certainly one of the more underwhelming bouts on the card? That’s the challenge facing WWE and its approach to Kevin Owens vs. Ryback at Hell in a Cell.

Both guys have played their part in this rivalry, which doesn’t seem to have much longevity left. This will likely be the final curtain for Owens vs. Ryback, and it’s time for Owens to move on and find a fresh challenger.

With Owens working as a heel, it’s almost certain nobody will come down and interfere during or after the match, which is perhaps just as well. This is the night for Owens to lay down a marker, produce a solid victory and move forward as champion with as much credibility as possible.

Owens has a big future in the years to come, and that could come as intercontinental champion. Have him dominate Ryback in the latter stages, before scoring a clean pinfall and ending Ryback’s hopes of winning the title.

The New Day vs. The Dudley Boyz

3 of 7

The beauty of The New Day and their incredible momentum at the moment is that when it comes to booking their matches, a whole host of exciting options are available.

When you throw The Dudley Boyz and the tag titles into the mix, you have a match that could end in a number of ways. But which is the best?

There’s talk about The New Day starting to outgrow the tag division, but that might not be the best way to look at things. The tag division needs a push, and having Big E, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston at the head of the division, not to take them away from it, is the best way to develop it.

So have them win but do so in a way that doesn’t detract from The Dudley Boyz’ momentum too much. After all, WWE has been pushing more heel antics on The New Day lately, so a controversial win would at least keep the feud going.

Have Woods once again be the distraction and then let Kingston and Big E score the win to cue more celebrations from The New Day.

It’s hard to see the defending champions win cleanly, as that just isn’t their way, so be creative and have controversy be the main talking point heading out of this one.

John Cena vs. TBD

4 of 7

It’s impossible to go about booking the best ending to a match when you only know one of the competitors. It’s even harder when the guy you do know is John Cena.

Unless there’s a major surprise with Cena’s opponent, it’s hard to imagine anything other than him retaining the U.S. title at Hell in a Cell.

But if, for example, the mystery opponent is someone stepping up from NXT, then WWE has to book the match to ensure it creates a valiant effort in defeat for someone such as Tyler Breeze.

Breeze answering the call would be a great shout-out and could set up a future feud when he makes the step up to the main roster in the weeks to come.

But as mentioned, when you don’t know who’s competing, how do you book the best ending? It would be easy to simply book Cena to lose, but the chances of that seem slim.

So it's about making sure whoever answers the call doesn't get beaten too easily. Have the mystery participant put up a brave fight before eventually succumbing to Cena, as so many have before.

Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt

5 of 7

Roman Reigns’ battle with Bray Wyatt promises to be one of the most spectacular matches of the entire night this weekend.

We’ve been teased some special moments in this feud, like when they brawled at the end of Raw last month as the show went off the air. That set the tone nicely for Reigns and Wyatt to meet inside the cell, and this bout could genuinely go either way.

But with it being inside the cell, thus reducing the chances of any real interferences, it is vital WWE has one man emerge victorious fair and square. And although some won’t like to read it, that man should be Reigns.

He needs a decisive, clean victory against a major star. If he is to be pushed into the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture in the coming months, wins like this one against Wyatt are imperative to ensure he’s ready for the task.

Don’t forget it’s not too long since fans were booing him because they felt he was being pushed too quickly. If he can score big wins in big feuds, fans will feel a lot easier about Reigns and the world title scene.

So have him win cleanly with no interferences. That will ensure Reigns moves on with momentum and Wyatt emerges from a likely classic with a strong reputation from this impressive feud.

Seth Rollins vs. Kane

6 of 7

Such has been the booking of Seth Rollins recently that it’s difficult to know which way WWE is going to go at Hell in a Cell.

The prospect of his losing the title to Kane seems slim given Rollins' exemplary stint as champion, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.

With Kane’s job in The Authority on the line, it means both men have something to lose. And when that is the case in such a big match, a controversial ending is usually on the horizon.

But here, the best ending would be to do things differently and have Rollins do something he’s not done too much of lately: win cleanly.

Is Kane in the position to have another run with a major title? Maybe not, so let’s try to make the champion look strong in the run toward Survivor Series by beating Kane cleanly.

And not just that, have him knock off Sheamus afterward too. He doesn’t necessarily have to cash the briefcase in, but Rollins could see off a potential cash-in from the Irishman by taking him out before the bell has chance to ring.

Rollins needs a strong night on pay-per-view, and this is the perfect opportunity for WWE to provide it.

Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker

7 of 7

Booking a finish concerning two part-time wrestlers is difficult because it’s unclear if they’re set for another match at Survivor Series.

That naturally reduces the chance of any interference in the main event and increases the possibility of one of these two men winning the third and decisive meeting between Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker in 18 months.

If there is to be an interference, it is surely more likely to come to the advantage of The Undertaker, with Lesnar being the one who is screwed. It’s rare he’s beaten these days without some sort of outside interference, but what could be on the cards on Sunday?

Could someone such as The Rock make a surprise entrance and set up a dream match for WrestleMania 32? That sort of meeting is usually reserved for the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, however, which makes it seem less likely here.

So, the more you think about it, the more the best ending would be Lesnar pinning Taker cleanly once and for all. He did so at WrestleMania last year, and after Taker scored a win himself at SummerSlam, it’s time for Lesnar to once again establish himself as WWE’s most dominant athlete by putting a nail in this rivalry once and for all.
