WWE Hell in a Cell 2015: Full Breakdown, Predictions for Entire Card

Aaron BowerOct 22, 2015

With seven matches on the main card, the traditional Hell in a Cell pay-per-view offers plenty for WWE fans to take notice of.

Two of those seven bouts will be inside the cell, with Brock Lesnar's third meeting with The Undertaker in this current feud of theirs the most compelling.

Elsewhere, every major championship will be put on the line, with John Cena opening up another open challenge, this time on pay-per-view.

Breaking down the matches to assess the potential winners is an interesting task, not least because there are a fair few matches that could genuinely go either way.

But here's that breakdown of the full card, with some predictions thrown in for good measure.

Charlotte vs. Nikki Bella

1 of 7

Charlotte heads to Hell in a Cell for the first defense of her Divas Championship, looking to finally send The Bella Twins to the back of the line.

Nikki’s lengthy reign naturally entitled her to a rematch for the belt this weekend, but should Charlotte get the win, it would surely open the door for another contender to step forward and take her on.

There are a few contenders for that role, but Paige is perhaps the strongest contender. A full-blown heel turn either during or after the match would set up a Charlotte vs. Paige feud, and that’s one that could reignite the Divas division.

As for this match itself, it looks like there could really be only one winner. A Nikki Bella win would have to be considered a backward step for the division, so Charlotte simply has to win here. Whether it’s a clean victory or not is up in the air.

Winner: Charlotte

Kevin Owens vs. Ryback

2 of 7

Much like Charlotte in the Divas division, you get the impression the early days of Kevin Owens’ first major title reign in WWE are in need of a new challenger.

That’s nothing against Ryback, though. The Big Guy was a worthy intercontinental champion when he won it at Elimination Chamber, but it is now time for that belt to move forward without him.

That’s why when it comes to this match, it’s hard to see anything other than an Owens win. He’s still doing a fine job as champion and has built up some nice momentum heading toward Hell in a Cell. He offers great hope that if WWE is in need of a top heel in the next year or so, the Canadian could make the jump up the card with ease.

But for now, his future is with this title. Win here and a whole host of contenders could step forward, with someone like Dean Ambrose being a great pick to have a feud with Owens. As far as this weekend goes, a comfortable, clean win for Owens is expected.

Winner: Kevin Owens

The New Day vs. The Dudley Boyz

3 of 7

The New Day are in an interesting position in WWE right now.

WWE has to realise that the trio are its hottest property, and they deserve huge credit for turning a largely stale gimmick into one that has heaps of potential.

Big E, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston are entertaining, unpredictable and even have an element of ruthlessness behind them, as we saw a couple of weeks ago when they took out The Dudley Boyz, Dolph Ziggler and John Cena.

But are they now in a position where they’ve outgrown the tag titles? They clash with Bubba Ray and D-Von at Hell in a Cell with the belts on the line, and there appears to be two straight schools of thought when predicting the winner.

The New Day could continue their momentum and move toward the main event scene by dropping the titles and letting The Dudleys reign supreme in tag team wrestling. However, they could retain the belts and keep giving the tag division a massive boost.

The more likely option? It’s hard to see The New Day being handed a loss on pay-per-view at the moment, so a win for those, probably controversially to build their heel persona even more, is the smartest bet.

Winners: The New Day

Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt

4 of 7

There have been hints over the past few weeks to suggest that Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt’s epic battle inside Hell in a Cell could be the match of the night this weekend.

Their rivalry is really starting to reach boiling point after some fantastic confrontations, and if this is to be the end for Reigns vs. Wyatt, finishing it inside the cell is the best way to do it.

With Dean Ambrose and the rest of The Wyatt Family now not competing on the card at HIAC, it opens up the possibility for plenty of interferences here, despite the match being inside the cell. However, that should not be the case. Let Reigns and Wyatt settle their differences once and for all, and have one man emerge victorious in his own right.

But who should that be? Well, Reigns seems to be coming into his own as a top-level star in recent weeks, so perhaps the smart money would be with him. From there, he could conceivably go into a world title feud with Seth Rollins, and if that does happen, he needs the momentum.

Crucially for Wyatt, though, even if he does come up short, he’s shown on plenty of occasions he can bounce back from a setback.

Winner: Roman Reigns

John Cena vs. TBD

5 of 7

The biggest intrigue of the entire evening at Hell in a Cell comes with John Cena’s mystery opponent with the U.S. title on the line.

It seemed certain Cena would have been taking on Dolph Ziggler given the surrounding circumstances, but Ziggler has once again been confined to the pre-show. That means we don’t know who Cena’s opponent will be until he emerges from behind the curtain, which does add an element of surprise to proceedings.

Does WWE have a big twist up its sleeve? Is there a big return in the offing? Or are we going to see someone from NXT perhaps step up and make their debut on the main roster by stunning Cena?

These are all questions that will be answered on Sunday night, but in terms of predicting a winner, it’s very hard to do that until we actually find out who the mystery competitor is.

Seth Rollins vs. Kane

6 of 7

The booking of Seth Rollins as WWE World Heavyweight Champion has been questionable lately, to say the least.

He heads into Hell in a Cell with a pretty severe losing record over the past few months, but he did at least score a win against Ryback on Raw this past week to give him some form of momentum heading into his match with Kane.

And just as questionable as the decision to have Rollins lose all the time was the decision to keep his opponent off the go-home edition of Raw. That decision has created little hype or intensity surrounding their battle, and it leaves the whole thing feeling rather flat.

Is it conceivable that WWE would have Kane pin the champion and pick up another major title reign? Perhaps, although there would have to be some mitigating circumstances involved, like Rollins turning babyface after being screwed by The Authority for example.

There’s also the possibility of Sheamus cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase too, of course, but he just doesn’t seem ready for such a big leap up the card yet.

In all honesty, the smart money would be on the champ escaping with his belt once again. That could potentially open the door for a feud, with someone like Roman Reigns heading toward Survivor Series.

Winner: Seth Rollins

The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar

7 of 7

WWE’s decision to have both The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar appear on Raw certainly had some impact, as it injected a fair bit of enthusiasm in their bout at Hell in a Cell.

However, you could hardly say it needed it. Unlike the rest of the card this weekend, this is a match that sells itself. It has been booked pretty well in that after Lesnar being screwed so recently at SummerSlam, he has a chance to settle the score just a few weeks on, rather than having to wait until WrestleMania 32.

But will he win? This is potentially one of the toughest matches of the night to predict, arguably because both men have a fair chance of winning.

Does The Undertaker’s legacy need a decisive win against Brock Lesnar, though? Probably not, which is why it’s arguably smarter to lean toward a victory for Lesnar this Sunday. It would set things up nicely for his next rivalry and leave him looking as strong as he ever has done.

The one swinging factor toward a win for The Undertaker would be Lesnar being screwed again, this time by his next rival. But in terms of scoring a decisive pinfall, Lesnar is the smart choice.

Winner: Brock Lesnar
