Rivers Sets Multiple Single-Game Chargers Records in Loss
San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers rewrote the franchise record books in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers, setting Chargers single-game records for completions (43), pass attempts (65) and passing yards (503), per the Chargers' official Twitter.
Despite his effort, the Chargers couldn't pull off the victory and dropped to 2-4 on the season. With just 86.7 rushing yards per game, San Diego has really struggled to rush the ball, resulting in a pass-heavy attack that has Rivers atop the NFL's leaderboard for passing yards.
In addition to Sunday's 503-yard effort, Rivers topped 350 passing yards in three of his other five games this season, with a total of 2,116 through just six games.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
He's on pace for 472 completions and 5,643 passing yards, both of which would be NFL single-season records.
The latter mark of 5,477 yards was set by Peyton Manning in 2013, while the former mark of 468 completions was set by Drew Brees in 2011.
Rivers is still a long shot to break either record, and if he does, it probably won't be good news for the Chargers' fading playoff hopes, as the extreme high-volume games like Sunday's typically come in losses.
Of course, with a Week 7 matchup against the Raiders on deck, Rivers won't necessarily need heavy volume in order to put together a big game.
