WWE Superstar Power Rankings for 10/12/2015

Alex MussoOct 12, 2015

WWE Hell in a Cell 2015 is less than two weeks away, but even with a slew of matches announced, few changes occurred in the latest WWE Superstar Power Rankings. One interesting note is Seth Rollins' dropping another spot to No. 3 in the rankings. More on that later.

More immediate news is that there are now six matches officially set to occur at Hell in a Cell. So far, four of the company's five titles are set to be defended, with only John Cena's WWE United States Championship not on the line.

As was previously announced, the Undertaker and Brock Lesnar will face off in a Hell in a Cell match. Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt will have a bout inside the cell as well.

The newly announced matches include WWE Divas champion Charlotte versus Nikki Bella for her title, WWE tag team champions the New Day versus the Dudley Boyz for the WWE Tag Team Championships, WWE intercontinental champion Kevin Owens versus Ryback for Owens' WWE Intercontinental Championship and WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins versus Kane for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Whew, that was a lot of matches to cover. Anyways, we'll get into this past week's events throughout the following slides. But beforehand, please read how these rankings are determined.

These rankings are not a popularity contest and are not designed to determine who has the best matches or the most ability. These rankings are strictly in-storyline power rankings.

All active Superstars and Divas on the WWE roster are considered, excluding talents who primarily or exclusively perform in NXT. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis, but any NXT Superstar deemed eligible for these rankings will remain on the Watch List until officially named a part of the WWE main roster.

Holding a championship, being a No. 1 contender or holding a Money in the Bank briefcase counts for much of a wrestler's ranking, and these honors are therefore the most heavily weighed components.

If a wrestler is deemed to be tied with another, holding a title will be the primary tiebreaker. However, holding a championship, being a No. 1 contender or holding the Money in the Bank briefcase in no way guarantees a spot in the top 10.

Wins and losses account for the bulk of the week-to-week movement and, after championships, are the most important components of the rankings. The quality and rank of a wrestler's opponents are considered in the week-to-week movement.

Getting the better of someone—such as beating someone down—also counts, though not nearly as much as wins and losses. Being over with the fans (i.e., getting a strong reaction) is not heavily weighted in the ranking decisions; it is effectively the last tiebreaker. Pay-per-view wins and losses take on added importance.

Only the top 10 wrestlers are ranked. Wrestlers on the Watch List were considered for top-10 status but were ultimately nixed. They are unranked, and their listing is in no particular order.

Generally speaking, these rankings do not break kayfabe. However, any major non-storyline information—serious injury, WWE Wellness Policy violations, suspensions, legitimate hirings, firings, contract information and "sabbaticals"—may be taken into consideration but only if WWE confirms or addresses it publicly.

WWE's non-televised domestic and international live events are not included in these rankings unless WWE incorporates them into television storylines or acknowledges them on WWE television. Also, nothing that could be explicitly considered a spoiler is included unless WWE acknowledges it as well.

In short, all WWE main-roster shows—televised or digitally distributed—as well as anything from WWE.com, the WWE App, the WWE Network and any WWE or Superstar accounts on social media that don't break kayfabe may be taken into consideration.

These may include but are not limited to WWE Raw, WWE SmackDown, WWE Main Event, WWE Superstars, NXT, WWE pay-per-views and any storyline-driven content from the WWE Network.

Watch List

1 of 11

Charlotte

WWE Divas champion Charlotte bounced back from a couple of losses to pick up a tag team win. Her new team, Team NBC, defeated Team Bella when Charlotte forced Nikki Bella to tap out on SmackDown. Charlotte will defend her title against Nikki at Hell in a Cell.

The Dudley Boyz

The Dudley Boyz had a mixed week. Bubba Ray and D-Von came to the assistance of John Cena on Raw and were beaten down for the trouble. That came after a win by disqualification over WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins and Kane. They were also in the corner of Dolph Ziggler on SmackDown, but Ziggler lost. Can they get on a roll after a nice win?

No. 10: Brock Lesnar

2 of 11

Previous Rank: 10

Movement: None

Brock Lesnar is getting ready for his showdown with the Undertaker at Hell in a Cell. After demolishing Big Show at WWE at Madison Square Garden, the world's largest athlete interrupted a Paul Heyman promo to try and shake Lesnar's hand. Lesnar wasn't having any of it.

Lesnar destroyed Big Show, and didn't think twice about it. The question now is, will Big Show seek vengeance? And if so, how will that affect Lesnar's Hell in a Cell match with Undertaker?

No. 9: Kane

3 of 11

Previous Rank: 9

Movement: None

Kane is officially the No. 1 Contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. But his title match comes with one major caveat: Demon Kane gets the title opportunity, but if he loses, then Corporate Kane is fired from his job as director of operations with the Authority.

Corporate Kane teamed with WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins on Raw in a DQ loss to the Dudley Boyz. During the match, Kane was handcuffed to the ring ropes by Rollins, who was trying to prevent an injured Kane from being taken to the back. The cuffs broke, and Kane was escorted away by medical personnel. Kane re-emerged as Demon Kane, and after Rollins was disqualified, Kane Chokeslammed Rollins through a table.

Can Kane defeat Rollins and win another world title, or will Rollins escape with his reign intact, as he always seems to do?

No. 8: Sheamus

4 of 11

Previous Rank: 8

Movement: None

Mr. Money in the Bank Sheamus didn't see a lot of action this week, but in his one match, he got a good win. On Raw, he faced Neville. During the match, King Barrett distracted Neville, allowing Sheamus to hit a Brogue Kick for the win.

It was a quick match but a solid win for Sheamus. There's not much on the horizon for the Celtic Warrior, but Hell in a Cell could provide a good opportunity to cash in his briefcase. Will he take it?

No. 7: The New Day

5 of 11

Previous Rank: 6

Movement: Down 1

WWE tag team champions the New Day had a mixed week. On Raw, Big E answered WWE United States champion John Cena's Open Challenge after it was revealed New Day beat up Dolph Ziggler, who was originally slated to accept said challenge. Big E lost.

After the match, New Day tried to beat down Cena, but Ziggler and the Dudley Boyz came to make the save. However, New Day took them all out.

On SmackDown, they reminded everyone what they had done. Ziggler took offense, though, and demanded a match against Big E. He got it, and The Dudleys were in his corner. Big E won the match, but there was plenty going on outside the ring.

The New Day will defend their titles against the Dudleys at Hell in a Cell. Can they fend off one of the most decorated tag teams in pro wrestling history?

No. 6: Randy Orton

6 of 11

Previous Rank: 7

Movement: Up 1

Randy Orton keeps quietly moving back up the rankings. This week, after two wins, he lands at No. 6, with the potential to keep climbing in the near future. On Raw, he teamed with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose against the Wyatt Family. His team won when Orton pinned Luke Harper after hitting an RKO.

On SmackDown, Orton teamed with Roman Reigns against Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman. His team again won, though this time by DQ when Bray Wyatt hit Roman Reigns with a steel chair. The two teams brawled afterward, but the Wyatts soon escaped.

Orton is scaling the rankings and could find himself in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture before too long.

No. 5: Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose

7 of 11

Previous Rank: 5

Movement: None

Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose had a solid week. On Raw, they teamed with Randy Orton in a win over the Wyatt Family. Then on SmackDown, Reigns and Orton teamed up against Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt, again picking up a victory.

Reigns now heads into Hell in a Cell ready to face Bray Wyatt in, you guessed it, a Hell in a Cell match. Can Reigns put down Wyatt in one of the most brutal matches in WWE, or will Wyatt take Reigns to hell?

No. 4: Ryback

8 of 11

Previous Rank: 4

Movement: None

Ryback has a good rivalry with WWE intercontinental champion Kevin Owens brewing, especially now he is set to get a shot at Owens' title at Hell in a Cell. Ryback had to face Rusev on SmackDown in a match to determine the No. 1 Contender for the IC title, and he won.

Owens took the title from Ryback at Night of Champions, and many argue the rake to the eyes Owens employed is the only reason Ryback isn't the intercontinental champion. Can a hungry Ryback regain the title, or will Owens retain?

No. 3: Seth Rollins

9 of 11

Previous Rank: 2

Movement: Down 1

WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins just can't get on track. In his only match of the week, he and Corporate Kane faced off against the Dudley Boyz. Corporate Kane looked injured during the match, but in order to prevent the transformation from Corporate Kane into Demon Kane, Rollins handcuffed his partner to the ring ropes.

The cuffs broke, though, and medical personnel escorted Kane to the back, much to the chagrin of Rollins. The Dudleys wanted to put Rollins through a table and retrieved one from beneath the ring. Rollins drop-kicked the table into Bubba Ray and D-Von, however, causing a disqualification.

Shortly thereafter, Demon Kane emerged and attacked Rollins, eventually Chokeslamming Rollins through a table.

Kane is officially the No. 1 Contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. But if he loses, Corporate Kane will be fired from his job as director of operations. Rollins has a history of escaping with the title, so what will happen to Corporate Kane if he wins but fails to win the title?

No. 2: Kevin Owens

10 of 11

Previous Rank: 3

Movement: Up 1

WWE intercontinental champion Kevin Owens reaches the highest ranking of his WWE career, coming in at No. 2 this week. He wrestled two matches, but neither was a high-profile bout. In fact, most fans probably didn't even see one of them.

On Raw, he faced and defeated Sin Cara. Then, on Main Event, he defeated Jimmy Uso. The wins were workmanlike, with Owens taking care of business against opponents he should beat. He'll face Ryback in for the IC title at Hell in a Cell. Can he defeat the man he defeated for the title, or will Ryback get his revenge?

No. 1: John Cena

11 of 11

Previous Rank: 1

Movement: None

WWE United States champion John Cena continues to hold down the No. 1 spot after once again winning an Open Challenge match. He issued his challenge on Raw, and it appeared Dolph Ziggler would answer. However, the New Day emerged to inform Cena Big E would get the match, not Ziggler.

It didn't matter. Cena defeated Big E via an AA. Afterward, New Day tried to put a beating on Cena, but the Dudley Boyz and Dolph Ziggler came to his aid. In the end, though, New Day got the better of all of them.

Cena now has to look forward to potentially defending his United States Championship at Hell in a Cell. All other titles are set to be defended, but Cena has no match scheduled yet. Who will step up to challenge Cena for the title?
