Tottenham Transfer News: Ashley Young, Javier Hernandez Targeted, Latest Rumours
Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is gazing at Old Trafford with envious eyes as, according to reports, he is targeting the capture of Manchester United's Ashley Young and Javier Hernandez.
The Argentinian boss may move for Young after Crystal Palace all but priced Spurs out of a move for flamboyant winger Yannick Bolasie, reported David Kidd of the Mirror. Palace want a hefty £25 million for the 26-year-old, who is "keen" to join last year's fifth-placed Premier League side.
Kidd noted Young is "on their radar" as an alternative. He has entered the final year of his contract with the Red Devils and is yet to sign a new deal with Louis van Gaal's side despite an impressive return to form in 2014-15.

He could be available in a cut-price deal with this in mind, but Kidd notes the former Aston Villa man would need to accept less than his £110,000-per-week salary if an agreement is to be confirmed.
Young's importance at the Theatre of Dreams is set to increase with news winger Angel Di Maria is on the brink of signing for Paris Saint-Germain, reported John Cross of the Mirror.
While the England international's career has been rejuvenated under Van Gaal, Hernandez's has not. Chicharito spent last term on loan at Real Madrid, where he scored seven goals in 859 minutes in La Liga for the Spanish giants, per WhoScored.com.
Adrian Kajumba of the Mirror believes Pochettino will target Hernandez after the sale of Emmanuel Adebayor, who is close to agreeing a temporary deal with Villa, tweeted Sam Wallace of the Independent:
Kajumba suggested Spurs want to make the Mexican poacher one of two new striker signings, with West Bromwich Albion's Saido Berahino the other. The Baggies aren't keen on speculation linking their talented youngster away from the Hawthorns, though:
Van Gaal previously admitted Hernandez could provide vital cover for striker Wayne Rooney in his squad, reported Joe Short of the Express: "Normally we shall have a lot of matches so Chicharito can also play in that position." The Dutchman is yet to replace Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao, both of whom left United earlier in the summer.
Hernandez has a proven scoring record in the Premier League, netting double figures in three consecutive seasons after his arrival in 2010. He is a specialist striker who lurks inside the box to gobble up chances but contributes little else to the team.

He may be just the man to help Harry Kane build on his 21-goal 2014-15 season for Spurs. The Englishman is a busy player and someone who drops deep to assert his authority, leaving numbers limited up top. He could work this role more freely if Pochettino adds someone of Hernandez's ilk to the team.
Spurs face an almighty challenge when trying to land a Champions League place next season. Young and Hernandez are experienced stars who have plenty to prove due to their fluctuating form with United.
Buying proven Premier League quality is a smart idea for Pochettino, whose squad is currently made up of numerous individuals who are yet to hit their strides in England.
