Liverpool Transfer News: Latest on Marco Reus and Lucas Digne Rumours
Bundesliga pundit Jan Aage Fjortoft has claimed there is "no chance" of Liverpool signing Marco Reus from Borussia Dortmund, despite continued speculation surrounding the club and player.
Fjortoft tweeted in response to Tancredi Palmeri of beIN Sports, who passed along news that Brendan Rodgers' side are in contact with BVB:
However, former Swindon Town, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Barnsley striker Fjortoft believes only one club can lure Reus away from the Westfalenstadion:
The Express (h/t the Telegraph) previously suggested Liverpool will make a £46 million bid for the player who continues to miss significant playing time through injury.

Reus is a proven goalscorer—netting seven and assisting five in 20 Bundesliga appearances last term, recorded by WhoScored.com—and could play anywhere across the front line for Brendan Rodgers' men. He is pacy, direct and confident with the ball at his feet, but he would most likely be looking for guaranteed Champions League football each season if he were to leave.
The unlikeliness of a deal is added to by Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol, who believes Liverpool will conclude their summer business with the signing of Christian Benteke, per Audioboom:
Rodgers has already snapped up James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan, Roberto Firmino, Joe Gomez and Nathaniel Clyne, so Benteke's arrival would round off a quality overhaul. Solhekol expects the Belgian striker to complete his move on Wednesday.
Marc Williams of the Daily Star indicates a Liverpool bid for Paris Saint-Germain left-back Lucas Digne could still be forthcoming. However, the Ligue 1 champions are thought to be considering keeping the youngster in their squad, tweeted by B/R UK's Jonathan Johnson:
Gomez's performances during pre-season may stop Rodgers from hunting Digne. He has enjoyed a confident start to life with the Reds, playing across the back four in friendly wins against Thailand All-Stars, Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United.
He and Alberto Moreno could share the left-back role next season, while Jose Enrique still remains at the club. As such, Digne cannot be considered an essential purchase.

Rodgers has opted to change much of his squad for a second successive summer in the search for success. Reus' arrival can't be considered realistic, especially if Madrid are seriously interested in his services. This won't shock Reds fans who have a right to expect an improvement on the side's recent sixth-placed Premier League finish.
