Manchester United vs. San Jose: Team News, Preview, Live Stream, TV Info
Manchester United are set to take on the San Jose Earthquakes in their home stadium on Tuesday night—or Wednesday morning depending where you are in the world—as part of their quest to retain their International Champions Cup trophy.
The two teams have each played one game in the competition so far, both against Club America. The 'Quakes lost out to a late comeback from the Mexicans, but United won 1-0 thanks to a debut goal from Morgan Schneiderlin.
San Jose's Scottish head coach, Dominic Kinnear, will be looking to arrest his side's recent run of poor form. Louis van Gaal will be hoping that the game helps in building his players' match rhythm ahead of the Premier League season. He will, presumably, also be looking for a confidence-boosting win.
There is a nice sub-plot to this game. The two teams share some history, given that the NASL incarnation of the Earthquakes was, for a time, home to one of United's most treasured sons, the late, great George Best.

Team News
The key questions for United surround David De Gea and Antonio Valencia, who missed the game against Club America through injury. Marouane Fellaini played no part in either half, but that was a choice, rather than a response to an injury.
Van Gaal said of the Belgian, per the Guardian, "Fellaini is suspended for the first three matches [of the Premier League season] and he has longer to be ready, so I have to look at other players."
The youngster Sean Goss is the only other player in United's travelling squad who did not get a run out against America. With Van Gaal likely to play two different XIs in either half again, a very similar-looking couple of teams seems likely.
The 'Quakes lost Sanna Nyasi to a red card during their 2-1 loss to Club America. Kinnear made plenty of changes in that game, mindful of a packed schedule that featured a 5-2 MLS loss against Steven Gerrard's LA Galaxy in between that game and this, as the Earthquakes' Twitter feed noted:
After this game, the Earthquakes have a few days break before facing the Vancouver Whitecaps, so a full-strength team will likely be on show, although they will be without Chris Wondolowski, who is part of the USA Gold Cup squad.
Players to Watch
United fans will once again have their eyes glued to the activities of Bastian Schweinsteiger. He looked immediately comfortable in United red, and his every touch was cheered by the crowd at the CenturyLink stadium.
All four of United's new boys did well against Club America, and special praise was also due to the youngster Andreas Pereira. His turn here could be crucial as he tries to force himself into his manager's plans. Bleacher Report UK talked to Pereira about joining the first team:
For the 'Quakes, Quincy Amarikwa has finally found some goalscoring form, having broken a long goalless streak and netted his first career MLS brace against the Galaxy, per MLSSoccer.com. Designated player Matias Perez Garcia is a creative talent who is always worth watching.
Key Battle
Because of the likelihood of United playing two entirely different XIs in each half, picking out key battles is tough.
However, Club America managed to create a couple of good chances on the counter-attack, and United's defensive-midfielders and defenders will have to be on their toes should the Red Devils lose possession.
There will apparently be a battle among 'Quakes players, too, as midfielder Tommy Thompson has designs on Wayne Rooney's shirt at the end of the game, but noted it would be popular. He said, per MLS Soccer again, "I’m going to have to be pretty quick to grab his."
