3 Borussia Dortmund Players Who Should Be Loaned out in 2015/16 Season

Stefan BienkowskiJul 11, 2015

Sometimes things just don't work out for footballers. An injury may pop up and pull them out of the campaign, a manager may change his tactics and force them out of the side or they may just not fit the squad they arrived in. Regardless, sometimes a move away is the best thing for players in this modern sport.

At Borussia Dortmund such an issue currently exists with a number of players in Thomas Tuchel's side. Talented footballers who could break though in to the first team yet at this moment in time it just doesn't seem likely.

Yet, instead of simply cashing in on their talents, the former German champions may be better suited loaning them out for the time being. Here are three such examples of Dortmund players who would suit a loan move this season.

Matthias Ginter

Matthias Ginter may have joined Dortmund last summer with all of the best will in the world, but through one reason or another the former Freiburg star simply hasn't cut it at the Westfalenstadion.

Under Jurgen Klopp last season the 21-year-old looked completely out of his depth when he was constantly thrown in to the team as a defensive midfielder one week and then a central defender the next. The last 12 months have been a complete write off for Ginter and something has to change.

Now that Dortmund have Mats Hummels back on track, a fit Neven Subotic and a consistently determined Sokratis Papastathopoulos—not to mention young Jon Gorenc Stankovic coming through the ranks—there is plenty of cover and therefore an opportunity for Ginter to get out on loan and find his feet once again.

Jonas Hofmann

2 of 3

It almost seems unfair to say but Jonas Hofmann may be forced to find another club this season. A fan favourite among the Westfalenstadion faithful, yet the youth product will undoubtedly note a long list of attacking midfielders in front of him in Tuchel's side.

Although his loan to Mainz didn't really work out all that well last season—where he ended up missing much of the season to an injury—such a move would again make perfect sense.

With pace to burn and an excellent cross, this winger is undoubtedly a prospect who could one day lead the line for Dortmund. Yet for now he needs to make sure he's getting as much game time as he can and that may mean another move back to Mainz or a club of equal size.

Adrian Ramos

3 of 3

Adrian Ramos is a very good striker. That may seem like an obvious thing to say, but if you've been anywhere near Dortmund over the past 12 months you'd be forgiven for completely forgetting that once upon a time this Colombian forward was truly lethal in front of goal for Hertha Berlin

Under Tuchel he will most likely be third choice, meaning we may be in store for another season of torment and bother for the 29-year-old.

Instead of wasting away on the bench, Dortmund could try to be a little smarter about this and loan him out to a side in the bottom half of the German top division. Get him scoring again and raring to go. Who knows, maybe come January or even next summer they may have a revitalised Bundesliga predator ready to jump back in to the team.
