Barcelona Transfer News: Arda Turan Rules out Loan, Latest Paul Pogba Rumours
New Barcelona signing Arda Turan has ruled out an immediate loan move away from the Camp Nou.
Instead, the former Atletico Madrid star has confirmed he will use the club's transfer ban—which stops any new capture from playing competitive football for the side until January 2016—to get used to life in Catalonia.
Turan made his intentions clear when addressing the media in his first press conference as a Barca player, per the club's official Twitter feed:
Turkish giants Galatasaray were linked with a loan move for Turan by AS (h/t Liam Happe of Eurosport). Happe suggested Fenerbahce were also willing to secure a six-month deal while the player waits for Barca's ban to be uplifted.

Certain risks are involved either way. Now Turan has decided to remain with his new team-mates, it's possible he'll lose his match sharpness with the lack of competitive football. On the other hand, there's always the risk he could get injured if representing another side for the first half of the season.
It's a difficult situation, especially as Turan enters Barca as something of a replacement for Xavi Hernandez, who recently joined Al Sadd. Turan doesn't expect to fill in for the legendary distributor, however, per FCB's feed:
He is, however, looking forward to working alongside Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi:
Reports continue to swirl that Turan could be joined by Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba at the Camp Nou. Marca's Luis F. Rojo suggested presidential candidate Joan Laporta will use former Barca left-back Eric Abidal—who will take the director of football role if Laporta is elected—to help push a deal for Pogba through.
Laporta will also call on Abidal, who used to play for Monaco, to lure talented Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva from the principality, per Marca.
However, Laporta is well-behind current Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu in the election voting stakes after the last count, as reported by Sport on Wednesday:
| Josep Maria Bartomeu | 9124 | 8554 |
| Joan Laporta | 4802 | 4272 |
| Agusti Benedito | 3815 | 3367 |
| Toni Freixa | 3289 | 3068 |
B/R UK's Graham Ruthven recently discussed how Barcelona would fare with Pogba in the team:
Although the treble-winning club were locked in transition last year, Barca show no signs of letting up on being successful.
Boss Luis Enrique has the team playing with an increased doggedness and willingness to get stuck in, highlighted by the arrival of Turan, and indeed, Ivan Rakitic last summer. Adding Pogba to the squad would only reiterate the ambition of a club who are on the brink of enjoying another long-term era of success.
