Dozier Sets Twins Record for Extra-Base Hits Before the All-Star Break
Minnesota Twins second baseman Brian Dozier recorded his 47th extra-base hit of the season during Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles, setting a franchise record for most extra-base hits before the All-Star break, per MLB Stat of the Day.
He made the milestone count, with his two-run homer giving the Twins a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning, eventually helping the team complete a three-game series sweep of the Orioles.
Dozier leads the Twins in home runs (18) and doubles (26) this season, while his three triples are tied for second-most on the team behind shortstop Danny Santana's four.

Dozier's .520 slugging percentage is easily the best among the Twins' regular players. Only rookie third baseman/designated hitter Miguel Sano (.682) tops him in this category, and he has only logged 22 at-bats so far.
Sporting an impressive .260/.332/.520 batting line, Dozier is on pace for 34 homers, 50 doubles, six triples, 86 RBI and 122 runs, with each of those numbers representing a career-best mark.
He'd normally be a shoo-in selection for the All-Star Game, but with the American League boasting an impressive collection of talent at his position, Dozier finds himself as part of the final vote. He is competing against Kansas City Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas, Detroit Tigers outfielder Yoenis Cespedes and Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts.
Dozier is probably the most deserving of the bunch, but the league's official Twitter account indicated that Moustakas had a lead in the voting as of Thursday morning, benefiting from the impressive perseverance of the Kansas City fans.
