Manchester United Transfer News: Latest on Matteo Darmian, Morgan Schneiderlin
Torino full-back Matteo Darmian will complete his "dream" move to Manchester United in the next 24 hours. According to the Mirror (h/t the Telegraph), the Italy international will sign an initial four-year deal worth £90,000 per week.
Torino boss Giampiero Ventura confirmed the deal and suggested Darmian has always striven to make a move to a club of United's stature, per Sky Sport Italia (h/t Ben Jefferson of the Express):
"It's true, Darmian will play in the Champions League with Manchester United. Matteo deserves a top team and always dreamed of playing in the Champions League, so now that dream will be realised.
We worked with Darmian for many years and it's only right he should be given the chance to make his Champions League dream come true.
"
David Amoyal, translator for football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, suggested a medical will take place before the end of the week:
Darmian can provide a solution to problems in multiple positions for United boss Louis van Gaal but will likely make the right-back role his own. The 25-year-old is also capable of playing from the left and in a wing-back role if the manager decides to deploy three centre-backs and a five-man midfield.

Tancredi Palmeri of beIN Sports believes Darmian is a quality signing who has it all to prove:
Van Gaal will now turn his attention to capturing Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton, according to Mike Keegan of the MailOnline. Keegan suggests a United official has travelled to St Mary's in the hopes of securing the midfielder's signature before the Red Devils depart for their pre-season tour of the United States on Monday.
Keegan notes United have already had a £20 million bid swatted away, with Saints boss Ronald Koeman calling the offer "not serious." It is suggested £27 million would be enough to see United complete a deal for one of the Premier League's best and most physical midfielders.
Schneiderlin is an underrated distributor of the ball—he completed 89.3 per cent of his passes in the league last season, per WhoScored.com—and offers insurance in the centre. The 25-year-old's all-action approach saw him average 3.7 tackles and 2.6 interceptions per game in 2014-15, a campaign that also saw him add goals to his game.
Andy Brassell of B/R UK recently discussed the potential deal:
Schneiderlin is a smart choice because he is both proven in the Premier League and improving. He wants to play Champions League football and will next season hope to prove he's worth a starting role in France's Euro 2016 squad.
United must quickly wrap this deal up if Schneiderlin is to be a part of the U.S. tour. He should be considered an essential signing for the Red Devils, who will be hoping to improve upon last season's fourth-place finish next term.
