Manchester United Transfer News: Robin van Persie Exit Imminent, Latest Rumours
Manchester United striker Robin van Persie is reportedly on the verge of a move to Fenerbahce, bringing to an end a three-year spell at Old Trafford.
The 31-year-old has been widely linked with a move away from the Red Devils following a 2014-15 term in which he struggled for game time and was plagued by injuries.
According to Sky Sports, Fenerbahce have agreed a four-year deal for the Dutchman, who has only one year left on his contract at Old Trafford.
Sky Sports' Amy Lewis provided further details, including Van Persie's wife's positivity towards Istanbul:
"Sources: Fenerbache have agreed a 4-year deal to sign Robin Van Persie. His wife visited Istanbul & "liked it" which was a big selling point

Van Persie had previously noted the importance he placed on his family's happiness when considering his future, per the Guardian's Jamie Jackson: "I’m thinking about my family and my children with every decision I take. These are very important for me. I’m a real family guy. I think it’s fantastic to see how happy my children and wife are. That’s something I take into consideration when I’m thinking about my future."
David Amoyal of GianlucaDiMarzio.com reported that the Red Devils will receive around €6.5 million (£4.7 million) for the striker—they signed him from Arsenal in 2012 for £22.5 million.
Van Persie made a stunning start to his United career, scoring 26 goals for Sir Alex Ferguson's 2012-13 title-winning side, per WhoScored.com.
He has recently become less effective, though, and United are seemingly now ready to offload him.
Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe suggested United may do well to keep Van Persie, as he still has the ability to make one or two telling contributions during a season:
However, if he is not to be a starter at Old Trafford, United will likely be happy to get him off their wage bill.
If Van Persie has indeed moved on, the Red Devils will be very short on strikers, as Javier Hernandez also looks unlikely to feature under manager Louis van Gaal in the future, per the Manchester Evening News' Samuel Luckhurst:
The MailOnline's Simon Jones reported Bayern Munich's Thomas Muller and Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani as possible targets, but there does not seem to be an outstanding candidate at the moment.
United need to act fast in bolstering their strike force, as they would hugely benefit from having time to integrate any high-profile new signings into the squad ahead of the start of the new Premier League season.
Big things are expected of United in 2015-16 in both the Premier League and the Champions League. But with Wayne Rooney set to be the only remaining experienced out-and-out striker at the club, they need to make significant moves soon in the transfer market.
