Enes Unal to Manchester City: Latest Transfer Details, Reaction and More
Manchester City officially announced the signing of Turkish super-talent Enes Unal on Monday, the Citizens' first acquisition of the summer. The news was confirmed via Twitter, as the club shared this photo of the 18-year-old signing his new contract:
According to the Manchester Evening News' Samuel Luckhurst, Unal has been in Manchester since Friday, and he will cost the club just £2 million. He smashed scoring records on every youth level in Turkey and became the Super Lig's youngest scorer ever by netting against Galatasaray in 2013.
Blue Moon Rising TV made a short profile of the emerging talent:
The former Bursaspor starlet combines excellent size with killer instincts inside the box, and while his scoring record dropped during his first season on the senior level, he still has years and years of growth ahead of him. Unal is just 18 years old but has already been capped for Turkey in the senior level.
He was a bit of a volume shooter in 2014-15, via WhoScored.com, but his high amount of shots does indicate he's always active in attack and finds plenty of spaces:
Unal will have to adapt to the pace of the Premier League, and a stint in City's youth academy may not be a bad idea. He has tremendous potential that needs to be nurtured carefully, and he still has plenty to learn about the game.
But if City are patient with their latest acquisition, the teenager has the potential to be a true star in a couple of years. The Citizens may not have been very active since the end of the 2014-15 campaign, but in Unal, they've found themselves a real gem who could pay huge dividends in the future.
