4 Real Madrid Players Who Should Be Loaned out in 2015/16 Season

Rik SharmaJul 6, 2015

Real Madrid have a vast and impressive squad, which generally means young talents find it hard to break into the team past more established professionals.

That means they often end up frustrated and their development is hampered, so perhaps going out on loan might give them the chance they need to progress individually.

Here are four young stars who could benefit from loan spells away from the Santiago Bernabeu for the coming season, based on their status in the squad, their potential and their chances of game time next season under new manager Rafael Benitez.

Martin Odegaard

Martin Odegaard arrived at Real Madrid in January amid a media frenzy, with everybody intrigued by the Norwegian wonderkid.

However, things haven't gone well for him so far, as he struggled to fit into the club's youth side.

According to Sport, the player's huge salary upset other young players at Madrid, including the captain of the B team, Sergio Aguza.

"It isn't that it bothers me, but I'd also like to be up there and earning what they say he's getting," Aguza said.

There were other reports, including in AS, that Odegaard had been dropped because he wasn't working well with his team-mates.

That was, according to Frederic Hermel, because he refused to train with the players at his level and insisted on being with the first team. Hermel wrote:

"

Odegaard has refused to train with the reserves and only joins in with training sessions on the eve of the team’s games. That’s not enough to click with the other players, or allow everyone in the side the chance to get to know each other.

The newcomer and his father seek refuge in the clause included his contract with Madrid which stipulates that the club must ensure that he trains with the senior squad five days a week.

"

Odegaard made his first-team debut, against Getafe, as the season drew to a close.

And per Pete Jenson of the Daily Mail, that's where he might be sent on loan.

Odegaard would benefit hugely by playing in the top flight in Spain every week, which simply won't happen at present if he stays put.

Getafe would also be a good option because he would not have to move location, given the club's proximity to the Spanish capital.

Jese

Jese is in a different position to Martin Odegaard.

He feels ready to play for Real Madrid now after impressing the season before last under Carlo Ancelotti.

A knee injury kept him out of action for several months, and after he came back last season, the Italian rarely picked him.

According to Marca, the forward does not want to be sent out on loan. Hugo Cerezo wrote:

"

Rafa Benitez sees a bright future for Jese. The manager from Madrid has spoken about the youngster's chances of progressing, after hardly appearing since December when he returned to action after tearing a cruciate ligament in March 2014.

Benitez has already said that he would like the player from the Canaries to stay, so unless he has a sudden change of heart it looks like El Bichito won't be leaving El Bernabeu.

"

Bearing that in mind, Jese isn't an immediate candidate for the loan list.

But the player should have a long, hard think about whether he will really get game time this season.

Benitez is not a hugely popular choice as Madrid manager and will be desperate to prove he still belongs at the top level.

That means trying to achieve instant results, which means playing his strongest side. And unfortunately for Jese, he's not in that at the moment.

One full year of football at a strong side at a high level might do him the world of good.

Marco Asensio

3 of 4

Real Madrid beat Barcelona to the signing of Mallorca's Marco Asensio last winter, with the player arriving at the club this summer.

Despite only just moving to Los Blancos, the forward is wanted by "half of Europe," according to Marca. J.I. Garcia-Ochoa wrote:

"

Over 20 offers have arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu to loan out Asensio—half of them from Spanish teams and the other half from England, Italy, France and Germany. And all of them from top-flight teams. Anything from clubs lower down the ladder goes straight in the bin.

The player is already considered a star and both Real Madrid and the footballer are determined for him to play for a top-flight club in one of the aforementioned leagues next season.

"

That is quite some level of demand.

While Madrid might be tempted to keep him with Castilla this season to monitor his progress and get to know his traits and personality, it would be churlish to deny him the chance to prove himself in a major league.

Benitez will watch him during pre-season, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he was given a shot at another side next season.

Lucas Silva

4 of 4

When Lucas Silva played for Real Madrid last season, he didn't look totally comfortable.

The midfielder, signed from Cruzeiro, joined midway through the season and was put to one side by Ancelotti after a few games.

He might benefit from finding his feet in Spanish football with a different team.

If Asier Illarramendi, with plenty of Primera Division experience, finds things tough at Madrid, is it any surprise that Silva, arriving from Brazil, would too?

Perhaps the example of Casemiro, who had a fine loan spell at Porto, could be used as a reference point here.

Marca claim that many top sides want to bring him in on loan, naming Fiorentina, Sevilla, Getafe, Deportivo de la Coruna and Porto among them. R Jimenez writes:

"

Both the club and the player want to be sure that the loan will be to their benefit, which is why the contract includes a clause about the minimum number of games to be played. He is sure to have a lot of options for staying on in Spain.

Despite the low number of minutes he got to play during his early months at Real Madrid, his experience at Cruzeiro is more than enough for clubs to want him defending their colours.

"

Silva may hope to fight for a position in defensive midfield, with Madrid possessing no standout players in that mould, but Casemiro should now be ahead of him in the pecking order.
