Arturo Vidal to Bayern Munich: Latest Transfer Details, Reaction and More
Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.
The Chilean has signed a four-year contract with the Bundesliga champions, confirmed by the official Bayern Munich Twitter feed:
Vidal said, per the official Bayern website:
"This is a new step in my career and I hope my thing to do well here.
I want to help the team and win titles. For me, a dream come true.
"
The midfielder posted a farewell to Juventus fans, per Football Italia:
"“It’s a very special day,” Vidal posted on his official Twitter page.
“I want to send a heartfelt message to all the Juventus fans all over the world. Thank you for these four wonderful years together.
“I want to wish you all the luck in the world, and I promise I’ll hold you in my heart forever. Always a Juventino in my heart, Arturo.”
"
Likewise, Juventus bid a fond farewell to their midfielder on Twitter:
He comes in as a fine replacement for Bastian Schweinsteiger following the Bayern veteran's recent departure to Manchester United, per Bundesliga writer Clark Whitney:
Vidal was arguably less effective for Juventus last season than he has been in the past, with some pointing to the effect his knee injury at the end of the 2013-14 term had on his play, per football writer Nooruddean Choudry:
He failed to reach double figures for goals in 2014-15 in Serie A, a feat he achieved in both of the previous seasons, per WhoScored.com.
However, the 28-year-old's immense ability is still undeniable, and he will surely prove to be a huge asset for Bayern boss Pep Guardiola—as long as he stays fit.
Not only is he a powerhouse in attack, able to significantly trouble opposition defences with assists and goals, he is also excellent defensively, and his work rate is second to none.
Vidal played a key role in the Juventus side that won the domestic double and reached the Champions League final in 2014-15, and he will bring bags of experience to Bayern.
It is something of a surprise to see Juventus let one of their key men go, but they have strengthened well already in the summer transfer window and will now likely look to reinvest the Vidal fee.
