Manchester United Transfer News: Gareth Bale Terms Emerge, Arturo Vidal Latest
Manchester United are willing to offer Gareth Bale £300,000 per week to leave Real Madrid, according to reports.
Chisanga Malata of the Daily Star adds to previous suggestions that Louis van Gaal is ready to attempt an audacious bid for the Welshman by outlining the hefty financial package. Malata indicates Carlo Ancelotti "is willing to cash in on Bale" due to his desire to keep Isco in the starting line-up.
Fichajes.net (h/t Metro) reports a fee of £90 million will need to exchange hands for this transfer to go ahead. This seems to be a fairly minimal sum considering Bale moved for £85 million and still has over four years remaining on his six-year contract.

He also posted an excellent debut campaign, which saw him score in both the Copa del Rey and Champions League finals, meaning he has the potential to become the world's first £100 million signing with another move.
Bale netted 21 goals and assisted 16 in 35 appearances across La Liga and European competition last season, per WhoScored.com. This term, he has five goals and four assists in nine matches, trailing only Cristiano Ronaldo when assessing overall contribution to goals. Bale was recently named on FIFA's list of 23 nominations for the 2014 Ballon d'Or prize:
Exactly why Bale was nominated is highlighted in the video below:
Although Ancelotti previously said, "When Bale is okay, he'll play," AS readers don't seem to agree he should consistently make the first team. The Spanish publication recently ran a poll asking who should be dropped from Bale, Isco and James Rodriguez when all are fit, with 56.35 percent of 30,000 people voting the former Spurs star.
La Liga specialist Nicholas Rigg also reports further disappointment for Bale:
United have plenty of money to spend and will be looking to significantly strengthen over the next year. Eternal target Arturo Vidal is allegedly on the verge of signing a new contract with Juventus, reported by Alex Harris of the Daily Star, so a large chunk of cash could be saved there.

Perhaps more importantly, former United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has confirmed Ajax are trying to land Adnan Januzaj on an 18-month loan deal, per Dutch Football and via Harris. "If you have the number of his agent: give it me with confidence," said Van der Sar, now director at the Amsterdam club. "But I fear that we can't pay his salary."
It may be in United's interest to let Januzaj leave temporarily. The Belgian has consistently failed to impress this season and could use some development time before being permanently thrust into the first team.
Should his £60,000-per-week wages be removed from the bill for the next two seasons, an attempt for Bale would make greater sense.

Of course, should his transfer come at the expense of defensive reinforcements, United's prospects would still appear minimal. Although the side competed well with Premier League leaders Chelsea on Sunday, Van Gaal simply can't expect to make the Champions League places with his current set of centre-backs.
Bale would add to the pizzazz and "Gaalactico" feel of the current United squad, but he's not an essential signing by any stretch of the imagination. He could be seen as more likely to move than Ronaldo—whose transfer is "impossible," according to agent Jorge Mendes—meaning the Welshman may develop into a viable target somewhere down the line. Right now, United have far more pressing issues to consider.
