Rob GoldbergOct 27, 2014

Updates from Thursday, Oct. 30

David Moore of the Dallas Morning News passed along comments from Justin Durant on the decision to have season-ending surgery:

"

'I wasn’t going to be effective,’' Durant said. 'And the way that I play, it was going to be impossible for me to play with the type of tear that I have. The trainers talked to me about it and we decided that was the best thing to do.’'

(...)

'Like I said, I’m not the type to get out there and play and not be up to the level that I expect,’' Durant said. 'I would rather these guys, who have the talent as well, to get out there and play to help this team.’'

Original Text

While most of the Dallas Cowboys' medical staff was focused on quarterback Tony Romo, the team had more injuries to deal with in its Monday night game against the Washington Redskins.

According to Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas, linebacker Justin Durant went down with an arm injury and will not return:

After the Cowboys' 20-17 OT loss, Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com provided an update on Durant:

Durant was in the midst of arguably his best game of the year, totaling a season-high 10 tackles (eight solo), with two of them being for a loss. He came into the game second on the team behind only Barry Church with 39 total tackles.

This is the 29-year-old player's second year with the Cowboys after stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions in his eight-year career.

With Durant out of the game, reserve linebacker Kyle Wilber could see more playing time.
