Antonio Cromartie Pick Leads to Crushing Collision for Eagles Teammates
It’s a small miracle there isn’t more friendly fire on the football field.
Bodies are flying everywhere as 11 men attempt to converge on a single location. Everyone is moving at breakneck speed with bulky helmets blocking their peripherals.
So it’s no surprise that Eagles teammates Matt Tobin and Jeff Maehl accidentally crashed into one another Sunday while attempting to catch Antonio Cromartie.

Here's NFL video of the collision. It is crunchy.
The two collided during the second quarter when Cromartie picked off Nick Foles in Arizona’s end zone. The Cardinals corner returned the ball nearly 40 yards, weaving through the Eagles offense and causing a train wreck of a collision between Tobin and Maehl.
Tobin, an offensive guard, attempted to tackle Cromartie, but lunged too late, smashing into Maehl.
Cromartie would go on to pick Foles a second time and help the Cardinals secure a 24-20 victory over the Eagles.
Speaking to ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss after the game, Cromartie said the Cardinals had given him the “green light” to return interceptions as far as possible:
"Honestly, I’ve always been told I’ve had a green light. I was just trying to make a play. When you look back on it, we got the ball, I think at the 40-yard line, the 35, something like that. I’d rather have it there than the 20 to try to get the offense on the short side of the field.
"
Cromartie made it all the way to the Arizona 38-yard line before being brought down. He and the Cardinals (6-1) will look to keep things rolling Sunday as they head to Jerry World to take on the Dallas Cowboys.
As for Tobin and Maehl, they’ll be scraping themselves off the ground and readjusting their spines as the Eagles (5-2) ready themselves to take on the Houston Texans in Week 9.
