Liverpool Transfer News: Wonderkid Ruben Neves Eyed, Latest on Suso
Liverpool are said to be among several clubs scouting Porto youngster Ruben Neves, who has impressed since breaking into the Portuguese side's first team at the start of the season.
With just seven Liga Sagres performances to his name, the 17-year-old is reported to be the subject of major interest from clubs around Europe. John Cross of the Daily Mirror says Liverpool "have joined the chase" for Neves after scouting him across three matches.
He believes Juventus and "several Spanish clubs" are linked to the holding midfielder who became Porto's youngster-ever league scorer during his August debut, as reported by UEFA.

Neves has developed through Porto's youth ranks since 2005. He grabbed plenty of attention during an impressive string of performances at the Under-17 European Championship in 2014, where he captained Portugal to the semi-finals, losing to eventual winners England. This came after Neves spent a year on loan at Padroense.
The developing talent recently broke Cristiano Ronaldo's record as Porto's youngest-ever Champions League player, per Vitor Hugo Alvarenga of The Guardian. Alvarenga likens Neves to "a delivery man ahead of schedule," citing his "ability to read the game, anticipate moves and make the right decisions" as his standout attributes.
Neves recently played a leading role in the Portugal under-21s reaching next summer's European Championship, scoring an important header during the second leg of the ridiculous 7-4 aggregate win against the Netherlands. His ability to lead in age groups ahead of his years—not to mention tremendous composure during senior matches—continues to impress.
The player's range of abilities can be seen in the video below:
He could certainly slot into Brendan Rodgers' midfield. Steven Gerrard has flitted between a defensive and more advanced role since the start of the campaign, finding little success in either. While still key to Liverpool's chances, the Englishman's influence has undoubtedly waned since the conclusion of last season.
Neves' confident patrolling act could work well alongside the energetic Jordan Henderson, but he may make Emre Can's positioning in the team obsolete if Rodgers plans on utilising Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling in the same side. The Reds squad continues to develop, suggesting one or two players could fall by the wayside in the coming months.
Spanish forward Suso can be considered a prime candidate to be moved on. Despite his considerable talent and handful of quality performances, the 20-year-old has been unable to hold down a regular place in the first team (he is yet to start a game this season, per WhoScored.com).
AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani recently suggested he is interested in taking the player to Italy, as reported by Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia: "Suso? He has an expiring contract and he’ll tell us if he wants to move or stay."

Liverpool fans may have seen the last of Suso after he recently underwent groin surgery, per James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo, meaning he is unlikely to feature before the January transfer window opens. Filippo Inzaghi is developing his team at the San Siro and could provide the starlet with responsibility as the club continues its rebuild.
Rodgers needs to keep his squad fresh. It is important the Northern Irishman cashes in on players when they become unneeded—but before they can be labelled as deadwood—to ensure Liverpool maximise their financial potential.
There is no use letting players such as Suso rot on the bench if he isn't in the manager's plans, particularly when the money could be used on players such as Neves, who can contribute at all levels right away.
