Lionel Messi: Exploring Barcelona Forward's Trophy Cabinet 10 Years After Debut
Lionel Messi could retire tomorrow and boast one of the most glittering trophy cabinets any footballer has ever assembled. On the 10th anniversary of his Barcelona debut, it is a great time to look back and see just what he has collected.
The diminutive forward has played for just one club since he broke into the game, and during his decade in Catalonia, he has won:
- Six La Liga titles
- Two Copas del Rey
- Three Champions Leagues
- Two Club World Cups

This is to ignore, of course, the various minor competitions he has also conquered, such as the UEFA and Spanish Super Cups—but then again, when your trophy cabinet features the above, that's not exactly a damaging blow to your collection.
Additionally, Messi has amassed a remarkable number of personal gongs. Again, there are too many to showcase them all, but the most significant ones are:
- Four Ballons d'Or (voted world's best footballer by peers, coaches and media)
- Three Golden Shoes (top scorer across all European leagues in a season)

With Argentina, the awards cabinet is a little less full. He has been close—a beaten finalist in this summer's World Cup and again a runner-up for his country in the 2007 Copa America.

But he has won an Olympic gold medal with the team; Messi was part of the squad who won the 2008 tournament in Beijing.
