Jordan Raanan of NJ.com reports the Giants will not trade for Mike Williams during the season:

"

Wide receiver Mike Williams may or may not want out of Buffalo, depending on who you believe. Either way, he will not be coming to the Giants in a midseason trade to replace injured wide receiver Victor Cruz.

[...]

The Giants are not interested in giving up a draft pick and paying Williams a hefty salary, a person familiar with the situation told NJ.com. Williams is making over $1 million this year and guaranteed more than $5 million in 2015.

"

Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News previously reported Williams is receiving interest from New York:

"

Mike Williams, a former No. 1 receiver in Tampa who was traded to the Buffalo Bills this offseason, has officially requested a trade, and the Daily News has learned the Giants have 'some' interest in acquiring him. The details make the possibility seem like a longshot, but given how shorthanded their receiving corps is with Cruz out for the season, a team source said they will likely at least explore it.

The Buffalo Bills traded for wide receiver Mike Williams in April, sending a sixth-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now, he might be on the move once again with his agent requesting a trade to find a heightened role with another franchise.

Ian Rapoport of NFL.com initially reported the news on Williams:

Buffalo general manager Doug Whaley spoke about the report on Williams' agent looking for a trade:

Williams addressed the report as well:

During his first season with the Bills, Williams has just eight receptions on 18 targets for 142 yards and a touchdown. His best game came in a loss to the Houston Texans in which he had 84 yards and his lone score.

Despite being expected to have a large role with the Bills this season, Williams was a healthy scratch Sunday against the New England Patriots. Rapoport reported the reasoning behind the move:

Whaley shared more on the move and what it might take to move the wideout, per Mike Rodak of ESPN Boston:

If a team is willing to give up that type of value for Williams, it would get a player clearly eager to prove his worth. The former Syracuse wideout has never reached 70 receptions or 1,000 receiving yards in a single season but might be an impact player on another team.

It's clear the Bills have no plans of moving him unless they get an offer they feel is comparable for his potential value. The trade deadline is Oct. 28, so interested franchises have until then to make a deal for the fifth-year receiver.
