Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News and Rumours Tracker: Week of October 6
Tottenham have broken their run of poor form with a fine draw against Arsenal and an even more impressive victory against Southampton.
Mauricio Pochettino has incorporated Ryan Mason into his first team and it has helped him to find a balance in midfield.
Younes Kaboul has also made great strides toward his best form in recent weeks, and in combination with Jan Vertonghen, Spurs now possess a solid back line.
The injury to Kyle Naughton does highlight a weakness that Spurs have at right-back, but the versatile Eric Dier has proven an able deputy this season.
It is really only in attack that Spurs continue to struggle. Emmanuel Adebayor gave an improved performance against Southampton but has yet to really leave his mark on a match this season.
With the transfer window still three months away, Spurs have reportedly begun to address their weaknesses.

Huntelaar Re-Emerges as Spurs Target
1 of 4
Tottenham have been linked to Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar for years. The prolific forward has made several high-profile moves in his career and is now thought to be available for just £3 million. According to the Metro, Spurs are one of several clubs keen on acquiring Huntelaar from Schalke in the winter transfer window.
The price is right for such a move and Tottenham are still light on reliable forwards. The mercurial Emmanuel Adebayor and the frustrating Roberto Soldado could both be sidelined if Spurs were to acquire a more dependable striker.
If Schalke are determined to move Huntelaar on before his contract expires next summer, it seems likely that a deal could be done and, having bought Lewis Holtby from the German giants in January last year, there is an existent relationship between the clubs.
Huntelaar is hardly the type of signing to set the pulse racing but he could be just what Spurs need to make the most of their current crop.
Another Chance to Snap Up Rabiot?
2 of 4
Young PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot has long been tipped for stardom but manager Laurent Blanc has relegated him to the reserves after a contract dispute.
Rabiot seems ever less likely to sign an extension in Paris so European clubs like Tottenham and Arsenal (H/T Le Parisien) have perked up.
Tall and elegant, Rabiot plays deep in midfield. He runs well and plays the ball forward with purpose. Spurs could do much worse than pick up the 19-year-old.
He was too young to feature for France at last year's Under-20 World Cup but has been capped at every age level.
Losing such an impressive youngster on a free transfer would be a disappointment for PSG so they are more likely to take the chance to sell him in January.
This would be an opportunistic move as Rabiot does not fill a position of particular need but Spurs should move for Rabiot if the price is right.
Tottenham Dealt a Blow in Insigne Chase
3 of 4
According to the Daily Star (citing reports in Italy) Lorenzo Insigne has agreed to sign a contract extension with Napoli.
This will bring to an end any hopes that Tottenham had of bringing him to North London on a cut-price deal.
Insigne has been a rising star in Italian football for several years. He came to wider attention playing in a prolific loan spell for Zdenek Zeman's Pescara in Serie B.
The forward had been struggling in the early weeks of Napoli's Serie A campaign and repeatedly been a target of fans' ire for his performances.
But, after a fantastic performance against Torino, Insigne cried tears of relief. He won back the fans with a goal and an assist.
Manager Rafa Benitez has since praised his work-rate and insists that Insigne is a key part of his team.
It seems as though Spurs have missed out on this exciting 23-year-old.
Spurs Pursue Former MLS Star
4 of 4
Tottenham are reportedly considering a bid for Honduras and Anderlecht star Andy Najar. According to the Daily Star's Paul Brown, Spurs sent a scout to the recent Anderlecht vs. Borussia Dortmund Champions League match to assess the 21-year-old.
Najar is hugely experienced for such a young player. He has 17 caps for Honduras as well as more than 100 appearances for D.C. United in the American MLS and Anderlecht in Belgium's Jupiler Pro League.
He was also called up the 2012 Olympics by Honduras.
A slight winger (5'7", 152 lbs), Najar is immediately reminiscent of Aaron Lennon in his younger days. Frighteningly quick and direct, Najar prefers to take on opposing defenders one-on-one and possesses the acceleration to exploit such situations. He is also capable of crossing the ball but is limited in his use of his left foot.
The Honduran has the quick feet that made Lennon an international player but runs with a predatory sense of intent. He won the MLS Rookie of the Year Award in 2010 and trialled with Spurs in 2011.
Lennon has never really developed as a goalscorer, but Najar is a regular scorer at Anderlecht. Having commanded a fee of $3 million in 2013, he is likely to cost in excess of £4 million.
Spurs no longer have the devastating pace that defined the Harry Redknapp team. Lennon remains but is a shadow of his former self while Andros Townsend is seemingly unable to hold down a first-team place. If Pochettino sanctions the move for Najar, Spurs will acquire a real difference-maker.
