Chelsea Transfer News: David Luiz Disagrees with Jose Mourinho on Blues Contract
Even separated by the English channel, Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz and Jose Mourinho continue to share a clash of opinions, this time relating to the Brazilian's departure from Stamford Bridge over the summer.
Sam Cunningham of the Daily Mail quotes Luiz in saying he was offered a new deal by the west London outfit but rejected it in favour of a move to the French capital:
"Chelsea offered me a new contract to stay but it was my choice to come here. I was happy with the plan PSG offered to me and I think it was exactly the right moment to move.
I was so happy at Chelsea, I won two European titles and the FA Cup, it was great for me.
I'm a lucky guy. I was playing for a big club like Chelsea and now I've got another opportunity to play for another big club. I'm enjoying it here.

The Brazilian international's £50 million switch to Parc des Princes made him the most expensive defender of all time, a player Chelsea would have been thought of as regretful to lose.
However, in the wake of his sale, Mourinho voiced his opinion and noted that it was a good deal for the Blues, per Cunningham's report:
"Last season he was not regular first-choice for us. David did important things here, was always a good professional and we will miss him as a good guy when he was with us. But from a football point of view we believe our squad is stronger this season than it was.
As a central defender he was not at all first-choice, it was John Terry and Gary Cahill during the whole season. In midfield he was a physical guy and gave us some important things, especially when we played in the Champions League when Nemanja Matic couldn’t play.
"
It represents contrasting views between the pair, and one could argue that both clubs certainly gained from the transfer. However, Chelsea would appear to have come away the better.
Mourinho's men currently lead the Premier League and have gotten off to a fine start this season, most recently disposing of Arsenal 2-0.

PSG, meanwhile, have struggled somewhat without Thiago Silva as a consistent figure in their back line, winning just three of their first nine Ligue 1 fixtures and keeping only four clean sheets.
The club's most recent result was a 1-1 draw at home to fellow big spenders Monaco. Following the match, Goal.com's Robin Bairner and Gabriele Marcotti of ESPN each saw it fit to criticise the hosts' £50 million man:
As Mourinho noted, the presence of Matic gives Chelsea the anchoring presence they need in midfield, while Cesc Fabregas has seamlessly slipped in as his partner in the pivot.
Cahill and Terry continue to reign as first-choice centre-backs, Branislav Ivanovic is providing potential cover, and with Kurt Zouma now at Stamford Bridge, a long-term prospect is lurking.

Truthfully, it's hard to figure where Luiz may have placed among that bunch, and the opportunity to make such a massive amount from his sale was a chance that doesn't come around often.
Both Mourinho and Luiz will presumably maintain their differing stances in the name of saving face, with the former eager to emphasise his lack of need for the defender while the latter assures it was completely his choice to exit.
Whatever the case, both parties have reasons to be upbeat regarding how their fortunes are turning out in the transfer's fallout—even if PSG are showing some growing pains at the beginning of the campaign.
