Manchester United Transfer News: World-Class Stars Eyed by Louis Van Gaal
Manchester United's endeavours to rebuild a squad of title-worthy aspirations will see them dip back into the transfer market this January, with numerous big-money deals already in the making.
If this summer's spending was anything to go by, 2015 promises to be a major year of investment for the squad, and the Red Devils' midfield and attack remain the two areas likely to receive new recruits.
Here, we take a look at the latest developments around Old Trafford, with Louis van Gaal hoping to amass a new depth of talent as he goes about restoring United's pride.

Juan Cuadrado

After failing to complete a move over the summer, Juan Cuadrado ended up staying with Fiorentina and could even sign a new deal with the club in the days to come.
However, Anthony Chapman of the Express says that United could still plump for his services, with a £30 million release clause reportedly a part of the contract.
Cuadrado has been an uncertainty of late thanks to injury, but Enrico Passarella of GianlucaDiMarzio.com said he now has a clean bill of health:
The Colombian international enjoyed a boom in interest this past summer thanks to some impressive displays at the 2014 World Cup but a move failed to materialise as no club made a concrete, acceptable move for his services.
This reported fee wouldn't be out of United's reach, but the club still needs to decide if such a fee is warranted considering their formation may not always allow for a player whose talents lie so focused on the wing.
Kevin Strootman

There could be a Serie A double deal to consider, too, with Kevin Strootman once again hotly tipped for a move to Old Trafford, where he would link up with his former Netherlands manager Van Gaal.
Chapman wrote that United are ready to splash £40 million on the Dutchman's signature, and Roma manager Rudy Garcia remains coy on the midfielder's future, per Goal.com's Mark Doyle:
"Strootman for sale? You must speak about this with our president. But the intention of the club is very clear: Strootman is an important talent for us. I want to have him available for the home match against City [on December 10], which will be crucial. He is a midfielder of the highest level and we're waiting for him to return. We hope to have him back soon.
"
Strootman's return to fitness is of pivotal importance for Roma and their Scudetto title bid, but United will be almost as eager to see their target return as the same talent injured earlier in 2014.
If Garcia's estimations are accurate, it doesn't give the anchor much time to prove his recovery before any potential January move, although Van Gaal is likely to play a big part in landing a man he's all too familiar with already.
Arturo Vidal
And the Red Devils' search for a midfield general may be well-placed with Strootman, too, after Arturo Vidal seemingly denied any notion of leaving Juventus in recent comments to the press.

Italian newspaper Tuttosport (h/t Daily Mail's Robin Cottle) quoted the player as giving his latest sign of commitment to Juventus:
"The truth is I was calm and relaxed this summer, only focusing on my knee. I never once asked my agent or Juventus if something was happening. I have a pact with my agent: if there is something concrete, he alerts me. He did not alert me."
Per David Amoyal of GianlucaDiMarzio.com, the midfielder offers more reason on why he'll remain with the Bianconeri:
Those comments would seek to disappoint United and any hopes they retain in bringing the Chilean international to their shores.
Vidal has long been linked with a move to the English giants and despite the Daily Star's John Toner reporting that a £52 million bid is in the works for January, this is one target United seem likely never to get their hands on.
