Robin van Persie to Fenerbahce: Latest Transfer Details, Reaction and More
It's been an up and down stay at Manchester United for Robin van Persie. Now, the star forward will be leaving the Red Devils after three seasons to join Fenerbahce.
Confirmation the deal has been finalised with the Super Lig side came via the official Fenerbahce Twitter account:
The fee is believed to be £4.7 million, according to Uche Amako of the Daily Express, but ITV claims the two clubs are yet to agree the final figure.
After joining United from Arsenal in 2012-13, the Dutch forward thrived, scoring 26 goals and adding nine assists, while appearing in every Premier League game. He was a huge reason why the Red Devils won the league title in Sir Alex Ferguson's final campaign as manager.
Former team-mate Rio Ferdinand paid tribute to Van Persie's effort in that season on social media:
But coinciding with the disastrous 2013-14 season for United was a disappointing year for Van Persie. He made just 27 appearances in all competitions, scoring 16 goals and adding three assists.
Meanwhile, he only appeared in 21 Premier League games, scoring 12 times and earning a 7.06 average match rating. That was down from a 7.71 mark in 2012-13.
This year, he disappointed again, notching just 10 goals, two assists and a 7.11 average match rating in 27 Premier League appearances.

Still, with former Dutch manager Louis van Gaal taking over at the helm and installing a system which seemed to benefit Van Persie's talents, it's a bit surprising he is moving on.
Perhaps an attacking force that included Wayne Rooney, Angel Di Maria and Juan Mata made Van Persie expendable.
Van Persie turns 32 next month but still has a quality season or two left in the tank, if he can stay healthy. As an embittered Arsenal fan might tell you, that isn't likely, as Van Persie's injury history has left him with the reputation of being a bit brittle.

But few players are as clinical in front of goal when they are in form as Van Persie, and he has the skill to drop back and find the player or facilitate for his team-mates. There might not be a better player in the world at finishing on the half-volley.
Van Persie will provide the Turkish giants with an upgrade in attack—again, if he stays healthy and if he stays happy. Apparently, by the time his stint with United was up, he was neither.
