Hulk vs. Cavani vs. Dzeko: Which Striker Would Be Best for Chelsea?
After shelling out the best part of £75 million on Chelsea's current crop of strikers, Roman Abramovich could be forgiven for questioning the motive behind signing another.
But the Russian could be set to give the green light to an overhaul of the club's strikeforce this summer, as rumours continue to surface around the futures of the likes of Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku.
Torres arrived two-and-a-half years ago from Liverpool for a British transfer record fee of £50 million, but after struggling to make an impression in the first two years of his career, he is finally finding his feet at the club.

But with Jose Mourinho arriving this summer as the club's new coach, the Spaniard could find his position under threat and, according to The Mirror, will hold talks with the Portuguese coach when he returns from international duty with Spain.
Although Lukaku looks set to have a bright future in the game, even he is not guaranteed to be at the club next season. Borussia Dortmund are lining up a move for the powerful forward as well as his Chelsea and Belgium teammate Kevin De Bruyne, per Sky Sports.
Former Real Madrid coach Mourinho is said to be most likely to sacrifice Demba Ba to make way for new recruits, despite the ex-Newcastle striker only joining for £7 million in January. As per the Evening Standard, West Ham are believed to be interested in bringing the Senegal international back to Upton Park on loan, and with Ba struggling to make an impact, a move could be on the cards.
In which case, with the possibility of some departures from West London this summer, Chelsea are looking at purchasing at least one new quality striker. And here, we evaluate out of their reported striking targets who would be more suited to the Premier League title challengers.
Edinson Cavani (Napoli)
It's the transfer that all Blues fans want, but could Chelsea be set to miss out on Edinson Cavani?
The Napoli forward has been identified as Jose Mourinho's top target after Radamel Falcao joined Monaco earlier this summer, and the Uruguayan is reported to have a £53 million release clause, which Chelsea are more than willing to meet.
Chelsea have reportedly had two bids for Cavani turned down by Napoli president Aurelio DeLaurentiis, per Daily Mail, although according to The Telegraph, the world-class forward favours a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, who are looking to replace Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain.
The 26-year-old finished as the Serie A top goalscorer with 29 goals in just 34 games last season, and the scramble for his signature intensified as he admitted his desire to play under Mourinho and Manuel Pellegrini, who was recently named as Manchester City's new coach.
One of the most feared strikers in World Football, Cavani is the perfect all-round striker. With pace, outstanding dribbling skills, superb aerial ability and a cool head in front of goal, he would be an ideal candidate to lead the Blues' frontline should either of Torres, Lukaku or Ba leave. Better yet, Cavani could join the trio, rather than replace them.
The only stumbling block is the fee. With other options available for a much cheaper asking price, Mourinho could quickly lose interest and focus on other targets as Cavani mulls over his next career move.
What we know is that the other 19 Premier League clubs will be hoping he decides to move to Spain, because if he does decide to join Chelsea or Manchester City, the Napoli star will be a remarkable success.
Hulk (Zenit St. Petersburg)
Chelsea failed to sign the Brazilian last summer when the Porto star opted to join oil-rich Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg in a £50 million deal. But after a difficult period in the former Soviet state, the 26-year-old has admitted his interest in a move back to Europe.
And according to Jeremy Wilson of The Telegraph, the Blues are back in the hunt to bring the powerful forward to Stamford Bridge, with the deal estimated to cost somewhere in the region of £35 million. However, it may take a few weeks for any transfer to go through as Hulk is currently at the Confederations Cup in his native Brazil.
A strong forward with a thunderous left boot, Hulk is usually on the right-side of the front three but can also operate in the centre of attack. His pace and power makes him a dangerous asset at all times and despite his failure to settle in Russia, he managed to score 11 goals in all competitions last season.
Jose Mourinho has been a long-term admirer of the former Tokyo Verdy striker since his Inter Milan days, and with his strikers such as Torres and Ba gathering interest from other clubs, the Brazil international could the man to replace them.
But after Chelsea's capture of Andre Schurrle, do they really need another forward who prefers to play on the wing? The arrival of Hulk may only happen if Chelsea were to sell Kevin De Bruyne, who has been linked with a move to Dortmund, per Goal.com.
Nevertheless, his tireless work rate and tremendous physical presence ties in with the fast-paced environment of the Premier League, and Chelsea could do a lot worse than signing a man who is named after a comic book superhero.
Edin Dzeko (Manchester City)
If it would be one of the more surprising transfers this summer, but only because Manchester City would be letting their top scorer from last season leave for one of their Premier League rivals. Edin Dzeko is one of the less celebrated strikers at the Etihad Stadium, but his total of 14 goals for the previous campaign was impressive to say the least.
Enough to impress Jose Mourinho anyway, who took charge of Chelsea earlier this month. The Portuguese mastermind is reportedly sizing up an offer for the former Wolfsburg hitman, according to The Telegraph, as Torres is being linked with a surprise switch to Barcelona, per ESPN.
A towering forward with an impeccable aerial ability, Dzeko is your ideal target man. With a decent supply line, the Bosnian international definitely falls into the world-class category, as the 27-year-old is undoubtedly one of the best finishers around.
Of course, there is the unresolved issue about whether new Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini would want to let the Sarajevo-born frontman leave Eastlands, with Carlos Tevez being linked with a transfer to Juventus and AC Milan, per The Mirror. But his search for first-team football may be enough to force Sheikh Mansour to consider offers for a player he signed for £27 million two years ago.
Chelsea must consider the obvious drawbacks with any deal to sign Dzeko. They would need to fork out the best part of £15 million to force Manchester City's hand, and his wages on a long-term deal could prove to be a stumbling block.
However, if Torres were to leave, Dzeko would be an ideal replacement for the Spaniard, although due to City's reluctance to sell to a Premier League rival, it's unlikely a deal could be reached without any problems.
