Chelsea Transfer News: Jose Mourinho's Comments Crush Cristiano Ronaldo Chances
Landing Cristiano Ronaldo would obviously be a major boon for Chelsea, but recent comments made by manager Jose Mourinho—Ronaldo's most-recent manager—make a reunion seem unlikely. Though there are few players as talented and polarizing as Ronaldo.
The Daily Mail reported in May that Ronaldo was on a transfer shopping list for new manager Jose Mourinho (then managing Ronaldo at Real Madrid).
However, but after Mourhino's latest comments about one of the game's biggest stars, it's hard to believe we'll see Ronaldo playing at Stamford Bridge for the Blues any time soon.

Per an interview with Intereconomia.com, Mourinho talks about his management and relationship with Ronaldo. He gave him credit for being an amazing player and also acknowledged his prowess with Manchester United before Ronaldo came to Real Madrid.
Mourinho said:
"He [Ronaldo] had three great seasons with me, I don’t know if they were the best in his career because at Manchester United he had great seasons too."
In a rather peculiar twist, Mourinho took things a step further by plugging in his own self-congratulatory remarks and called Ronaldo a "know it all."
"But I think we found for him a tactical situation that helped him express himself on the pitch perfectly...
The only problem has been that a coach criticises him from a tactical point of view trying to improve him and he has not accepted it well, thinking, perhaps, that he knows it all and that the coach could not help him become any better.
"
Finally, he ends with an almost contradictory comment about Ronaldo's team-first behavior
"But there is no other problem... he always gave everything for the team..."

Perhaps the parting shot was made in an effort to salvage some political correctness in his statement. But the damage to Chelsea's chances of landing Ronaldo was likely already done.
It is possible Mourinho's comments were made to discourage Ronaldo from considering Chelsea as a potential landing spot. Mourinho could be looking for a fresh start without a player with as much presence on a club.
Ronaldo's current contract with Real Madrid ends in 2015, and Pete Jenson of the Daily Mail reports that Ronaldo has indicated he will not renew his deal beyond then.
If Real Madrid decide to sell their prized star there will almost certainly be a scramble to acquire him. This past season, the 28-year-old scored 34 goals in 34 La Liga matches and 12 more in UEFA Champions League play, per WhoScored.com.
With him not only comes talent on the pitch, but tons of attention and commercial appeal. That kind of star power is a license to print money for any club, but after Mourinho's comments, it's hard to see the Blues being a player in any possible Ronaldo sweepstakes.
