World Cup: Aldo De Nigris Header Puts Mexico Back on Track in CONCACAF (Video)
Mexico finally won a match in 2013—and now El Tri is back in familiar territory.
On Tuesday night in Kingston, Mexico defeated host Jamaica 1-0 in a CONCACAF World Cup qualifying match thanks to Aldo de Nigris' goal early in the second half.
Jose Manuel de la Torre's team had struggled so far in 2013, drawing all six of their matches in 2013, including three qualifiers. This first victory moves El Tri atop the six-team qualifying group, having played one more game than four other teams.

The teams went into halftime tied 0-0. In the 48th minute, de Nigris headed in Carlos Salcido's cross from the left to score the game's only goal. The goal can be seen in the video clip above.
"We are happy with the result," de la Torre said, per USA Today. "It has kick-started our campaign. We knew Jamaica is a fast, counter-attacking team, so we started cautiously."
The result left Jamaica at the bottom of the Hex with two points through four matches. Up next for the Reggae Boyz is a date with the United States on Friday. The U.S. is now fourth with four points through three matches.
"We are disappointed. This has set us back," Jamaica coach Theodore Whitmore said. "We allowed the Mexicans to set the pace. They got comfortable on the ball, and (we) suffered the consequences."
The top three teams qualify automatically for next year's World Cup, with the fourth-placed team entering a playoff. Here are the full standings.
