Gomez scored 54 league goals over two seasons from 2010 to 2012. But after suffering an ankle injury this past season, he scored 11 goals in 21 Bundesliga appearances, 12 of which came as a substitute.
Edinson Cavani
2 of 6Speaking directly to fans on Twitter via a live chat, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis said on Sunday that Napoli have not received any adequate bids for striker Edinson Cavani. La Gazzetta dello Sport has a rundown of the chat, which also covered incoming manager Rafa Benitez, Napoli's rumored interest in Chelsea forward Fernando Torres and former manager Walter Mazzarri.
Cavani, 26, has been linked with a summer transfer, with Manchester City and Chelsea interested according to the Daily Star. The Uruguay international joined Napoli from Palermo in 2010 and scored 29 goals in 34 Serie A appearances this past season.
Speaking about Cavani, De Laurentiis said: "His contract lasts another four years and there's a clause which prices him at 63 million euro. The offers we have received have not come anywhere near that. Benitez prefers Cavani to Torres."
Jose Mourinho, David Luiz
3 of 6Jose Mourinho has said on Spanish television that he expects to return to Chelsea by "the end of the week," per BBC Sport.
(UPDATE: It's official, as confirmed by Chelsea.)
Mourinho, 50, managed Chelsea from 2004 to 2007, leading the Blues to Premier League titles in his first two seasons. He recently finished a three-season spell with Real Madrid, leaving the Spanish giants by mutual consent.
"I will go to London and between Monday and the end of the week I will be the new coach of Chelsea," Mourinho told Punto Pelota.
Meanwhile, the Daily Star is reporting that Mourinho's first act as Chelsea's new manager will be to sell Brazilian defender David Luiz to Barcelona for about £30 million.
Luiz, who can also play in midfield, joined Chelsea from Benfica in 2011. He made 30 league appearances this past season, scoring twice.
Wayne Rooney
4 of 6Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy says Wayne Rooney should leave the club if he is not fully committed to it. Per the Independent:
"It is a matter of how he feels. If he feels he is committed to the club I think there is an opening. If he says there isn't I don't think there is a future for him but it is up to him.
I think the fans would love him to stay but it depends on the commitment. If he is fully here everyone loves him but when he is not fully committed it is probably better to move on.
"
Rooney, 27, submitted a transfer request near the end of the season via Sky Sports. Incoming Manchester United manager David Moyes wants to keep Rooney, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Paris Saint-Germain are offering Rooney £300,000 per week, according to Metro. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, meanwhile, has told Al Jazeera that Rooney is an "interesting player."
