Roberto Martinez Would Be Ideal Replacement for David Moyes as Everton Coach
With David Moyes headed to Old Trafford to lead English Premier League champion Manchester United next season, Everton are in search of a new manager. And, at the moment, Roberto Martinez looks like the top option to take over at Goodison Park.
According to the The Guardian's Andy Hunter, Martinez is set for a second interview this week with club chairman Bill Kenwright:
"Kenwright claimed there was no clear favourite for the Everton job before meeting the Wigan Athletic manager on Wednesday and has met other candidates in recent days.

Although there are many notable candidates out there to begin the new era at Everton, including Phil Neville, David Weir and Alan Stubbs, according to Hunter, Martinez is an excellent option for a squad on the cusp of contention.
A former player, Martinez is only 39 years old, and he has tons of experience coaching in England—first with Swansea City (2007-09) and most recently with Wigan Athletic from 2009 to 2013. But it will be interesting to see what he can do with a more talented club.
Martinez famously turned things around at Swansea, bringing real success to the club he played for from 2003-06.
While Wigan struggled this past season under Martinez, they were good enough to upend Manchester City for the FA Cup crown, rallying behind their manager and each other to finish the year on a high note with a 1-0 victory over the 2011-12 Premier League champions.
The club failed to avoid relegation, however, finishing with nine wins, nine draws and 20 losses. But to be fair, the talent at Martinez's disposal at DW Stadium paled in comparison to the league's top clubs. At the end of the day, talent wins at this level, and if Martinez can acquire it, his ability to appeal to the fans and players makes him an ideal replacement for Everton.
Everton are headed in the right direction, but they still have plenty of room for improvement.
The Toffees finished sixth in the Premier League table this past season, winning 16 matches under Moyes and dropping just as many games as Arsenal and Chelsea. There's plenty of room to improve on that next season, however, as some of the top clubs in the Premier League are likely to undergo some personnel changes this summer.
The fact that Everton are Martinez a second look bodes well for his chances of landing the job. And the Toffees' supporters should be excited about the potential of possibly beginning a new era under a well-known and accomplished manager in Roberto Martinez.
