Eddie Lacy: 5 Things You Need to Know About the Alabama RB

Alessandro MiglioJun 8, 2018

Heading into draft season, Eddie Lacy was arguably the top running back in the 2013 draft class.

Other running backs have caught up in recent months, though, and Lacy's poor draft season might have cost him a first-round selection.

Collegiate Stats

Playing time was tough to come by for Eddie Lacy, who has had to sit behind Heisman candidates Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson throughout his tenure at Alabama.

When he finally got his real shot, he didn't disappoint. The most eye-popping number in all of his statistics is the 6.8 yards-per-carry average he sported throughout his career.

The Best of the Bunch?

4 of 5

Eddie Lacy is the latest in a recent string of strong running backs to come out of Alabama.

First came Mark Ingram, who was so good in the eyes of Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton that the Saints traded away a future first-round pick to get him.

Then Trent Richardson came along, and the Browns couldn't resist moving up to No. 3 to ensure they got him in last year's draft.

Is Eddie Lacy the best of the three? At least one evaluator thinks so, it seems.

"

Wow. Bucky Brooks says he was told by one evaluator that they consider Eddie Lacy a better prospect than Trent Richardson and Mark Ingram.

— Josh Norris (@JoshNorris) February 23, 2013"

One thing is for sure, Lacy isn't going to get taken at No. 3 this year, but time will tell if he can surpass his predecessors.

Eddie Lacy has taken a bit of a tumble as draft season has wore on. What has Twitter had to say about him?

"

Four months away, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Eddie Lacy off the board to the #Falcons at No. 30 overall.

"

Remember Eddie Lacy missed a lot of time. Easy to forget that because he didn't miss any games. Couldn't go 100 percent for several weeks.

"

I have to wonder how well Lacy would have run without having the best o-line in the nation blocking for him. #NFLDraft #Alabama

"

Full discloser, I'm not a big Eddie Lacy fan. He played behind an NFL offensive line. He wants struggling to find holes.

"

The devaluation of RBs will cause Eddie Lacy to drop. But I'd love to have him on my team. Kid can play. #Alabama
