College Football Predictions for Every Week 6 Game

Jonathan McDanalJun 6, 2018

What's going to happen in the college football realm in Week 6?

After ULM's upset of Arkansas, Stanford's upset of USC, and Oregon State's upset of, well, everyone on its schedule, it's safe to say that someone is going to upset someone each week of the 2012 season.

Forget how many teams will be undefeated in December—at this point, it's a miracle just to make it through the next week without a tick in the loss column.

Who will make it through Week 6 still in contention for a conference championship? Who will make it out still vying for the national title game?

Here are predictions for every one of the 55 games slated for this week, from Arkansas State to Oregon.

Note: All kickoff times are for Eastern Time Zone.

No. 13 USC Trojans at Utah Utes

1 of 55

Final: USC 38, Utah 28

Pittsburgh Panthers at Syracuse Orange

2 of 55

Utah State Aggies at BYU Cougars

Navy Midshipmen at Air Force Falcons

4 of 55

Kickoff: 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Navy visits Air Force in an attempt to salvage what has almost become a lost season. Navy's lone win came against Virginia Military Institute, while Air Force has simply been running all over the competition—at a rate of 396 rushing yards per game.

Navy will be trying to overcome the sting of the fumblebee and put together its first good game of the season. After putting 12 turnovers on the board in the first four games, Navy hopes it has nowhere to go but up for the rest of 2012.

Prediction: Air Force

Final: Navy 28, Air Force 21 in OT

Kansas Jayhawks at No. 7 Kansas State Wildcats

5 of 55

Kickoff: 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Kansas State is more than a three-touchdown favorite over the Jayhawks in many places. While anything can happen, the Wildcats are on a tear through the Big 12. If anyone's standing in their way, it's not in-state rivals Kansas.

Prediction: Kansas State

Final: Kansas State 56, Kansas 16

UConn Huskies at No. 22 Rutgers Scarlet Knights

6 of 55

Kickoff: 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Rutgers needs a win over the UConn Huskies in order to preserve its trajectory up the 2012 polls. UConn stands at 3-2 and will put up a good fight against the Scarlet Knights. This one could very well end up in overtime.

This is one of many must-win games for the Big East championship-hopeful Scarlet Knights.

Prediction: Rutgers

Final: Rutgers 19, UConn 3

No. 24 Northwestern Wildcats at Penn State Nittany Lions

7 of 55

Kickoff: 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Northwestern has done nothing this year except quietly win. When Northwestern stood at 3-0, there were very few that thought it could make a real run for the Big Ten title.

As the weeks have progressed and the Big Ten has continued to wither away, Northwestern now stands at 5-0 and in first place in the Big Ten Legends division.

Penn State has one of the toughest stadiums in college football to walk away from with a win. Penn State and Northwestern will be fighting like mad to add another win to their totals, but only one will succeed.

Prediction: Northwestern

Final: Penn State 39, Northwestern 28

Arkansas Razorbacks at Auburn Tigers

8 of 55

Kickoff: 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Arkansas entered a tailspin after the loss to Louisiana-Monroe, and has yet to recover. Auburn is also experiencing a one-win season at the moment.

While this game has virtually zero national championship implications, it means everything to the two teams involved. It's a battle to determine who will not be the worst team in the SEC West.

Prediction: Auburn

Final: Arkansas 24, Auburn 7

Michigan State Spartans at Indiana Hoosiers

9 of 55

Kickoff: 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Michigan State got off to a good start, but the Spartans stumbled against Notre Dame in Week 3. After suffering a second loss to Ohio State, the Spartans were dropped from the AP Top 25.

However, Indiana has already logged losses to Ball State and Northwestern. Michigan State will begin its recovery against the Hoosiers.

Prediction: Michigan State

Final: Michigan State 31, Indiana 27

East Carolina Pirates at UCF Knights

10 of 55

Arkansas State Red Wolves at Florida International Golden Panthers

11 of 55

Buffalo Bulls at Ohio Bobcats

12 of 55

Kickoff: 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Ohio has been ripping through its schedule and has yet to be defeated. Buffalo, on the other hand, does not look like it will be contending for its conference title this season.

Ohio took down a Penn State unit that's sitting at 3-2 right now, which speaks well to the Bobcats squad.

Prediction: Ohio

Final: Ohio 38, Buffalo 31

South Florida Bulls at Temple Owls

13 of 55

Kickoff: 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

South Florida gave Florida State a run for its money last week, and the Bulls are an underrated team out of the Big East.

Temple is still shuffling through its season looking for a way to hit six wins. While that may still be possible, USF will not be one of those six.

Prediction: South Florida

Final: Temple 37, South Florida 28

Boston College Eagles at Army Black Knights

14 of 55

Kickoff: 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Army has still not won a game this year and is now getting desperate. Boston College will get one of Army's biggest fights to date.

In a game that will play out much closer than the paperwork would suggest, the only shock will be the final score.

Prediction: Boston College

Final: Army 34, Boston College 31

Boise State Broncos at Southern Miss Golden Eagles

15 of 55

Kickoff: 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Boise State has struggled to find the end zone at home this season, and have not looked like the BCS-busting Broncos that we have all come to love.

Southern Miss will not be an easy opponent for the visiting Broncos.

Prediction: Boise State

Final: Boise State 40, Southern Miss 14

No. 20 Mississippi State Bulldogs at Kentucky Wildcats

16 of 55

Kickoff: 12:21 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Mississippi State has found itself in quite a happy predicament. The Bulldogs are ranked and undefeated heading into the Kentucky game.

Mississippi State is easing into the SEC schedule and looks like it might not take a loss until the Tennessee game on Oct. 13.

Prediction: Mississippi State

Final: Mississippi State 27, Kentucky 14

Virginia Tech Hokies at UNC Tar Heels

17 of 55

Kickoff: 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Virginia Tech already dropped one game this season against Pittsburgh. The Hokies are still the favorites to win the ACC Coastal division, but will need to win this game to keep that status.

UNC is not a pushover, and Virginia Tech fans hope that the Hokies aren't looking past the Tar Heels and toward the Clemson match.

Prediction: Virginia Tech

Final Score: North Carolina 48, Virginia Tech 34

Kent State Golden Flashes at Eastern Michigan Eagles

18 of 55

Kickoff: 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Eastern Michigan is 0-4 and isn't ranked in the top 100 in passing yards, rushing yards, scoring or scoring defense.

Kent State will be looking to improve its record to 4-1 (3-0) and will probably do just that.

Prediction: Kent State

Final Score: Kent State 41, Eastern Michigan 14

Bowling Green Falcons at Akron Zips

19 of 55

Kickoff: 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Bowling Green and Akron are fairly evenly matched. Anyone looking for a close game to watch should not be disappointed by this contest one bit.

Bowling Green comes into this tilt at 2-3 (0-1) and Akron enters at 1-4 (0-1). Coach Terry Bowden will need a few more games to get the Zips up to speed.

Prediction: Bowling Green

Final Score: Bowling Green 24, Akron 10

UMass Minutemen at Western Michigan Broncos

20 of 55

Kickoff: 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

UMass is having serious trouble getting its kite in the air in 2012 and has started the season 0-5. Western Michigan will attempt to take advantage of a team that may have already written this season off.

UMass has the talent to take down Western Michigan, but the Minutemen's execution is questionable at best.

Prediction: Western Michigan

Final Score: Western Michigan 52, UMass 14

Arizona Wildcats at No. 18 Stanford Cardinal

21 of 55

Kickoff: 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Stanford is a difficult team to figure out this year. Defensively, the Cardinal can slow any Pac-12 offense down enough to stay in the game.

Offensively, they are just one giant failure to communicate. Arizona is going to come to Stanford and play like a wounded cheetah. After logging back-to-back losses to the siblings from Oregon, Arizona is ready to get its offense back off the ground.

Prediction: Arizona

Final Score: Stanford 54, Arizona 48 (OT)

Southeastern Louisiana Lions at UAB Blazers

22 of 55

Kickoff: 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

UAB faces FCS foe Southeastern Louisiana. The Blazers are still looking for that all-important first win of the season.

If Ohio State hadn't had a brilliant second-quarter performance, the Blazers may have gotten it in Week 3. As it is, they will have to settle for Week 6.

Prediction: UAB

Final Score: UAB 52, SE Louisiana 3

Virginia Cavaliers at Duke Blue Devils

23 of 55

Kickoff: 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Virginia takes on Duke in a tough ACC road battle this week. While Duke is favored, Virginia is better than people give them credit for.

If Phillip Sims is healthy, he's already been named the starter against the Blue Devils. Since the turnover battle has contributed to Virginia's losses, Phillip Sims will be a welcome sight to Cavaliers fans.

The ex-backup for the Crimson Tide has yet to throw a pick for Virginia.

Prediction: Virginia

Final Score: Duke 42, Virginia 17

Northern Illinois Huskies at Ball State Cardinals

24 of 55

Kickoff: 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

While this will not be a defensive battle per se, defense will be the deciding factor. Northern Illinois comes in with a 4-1 record against Ball State's 3-2.

Northern Illinois has the 51st-ranked scoring defense, and Ball State has the 110th. Defense will be the deciding factor in a lot of games this week, as stopping the opponent from scoring is just as important as finding the end zone.

Prediction: Northern Illinois

Final Score: Northern Illinois 35, Ball State 23

Central Michigan Chippewas at Toledo Rockets

25 of 55

Kickoff: 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Toledo's only loss this season came at the hands of the Arizona Wildcats, and even that loss came in overtime.

Central Michigan played hard and upset Iowa in its own backyard, but the Chippewas turned around and got owned by Northern Illinois.

Toledo and NIU look like the two best teams in the MAC West, and Central Michigan just doesn't look ready to take them down yet.

Prediction: Toledo

Final Score: Toledo 50, Central Michigan 35

No. 4 LSU Tigers at No. 10 Florida Gators

26 of 55

Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

LSU had lackluster performances in back-to-back weeks against Auburn and Towson. After the loss of Tyrann Mathieu was followed by the loss of four other scholarship players, LSU's vaunted depth is now questionable.

While many of LSU's talented starters are ready to take the field, the loss of depth still cannot be overlooked. In the meantime, while LSU has been squeaking out wins, Florida has been making headlines by stomping through its schedule like Godzilla.

A game in the Swamp is never easy to win as an away team.

Prediction: Florida

Final Score: Florida 14, LSU 6

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at No. 15 Clemson Tigers

27 of 55

Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Georgia Tech takes on the Clemson Tigers in Death Valley this week. After playing Virginia Tech to overtime in Week 1, the Yellow Jackets have slipped away from contention in the ACC.

While Georgia Tech is still not a cupcake, the Yellow Jackets did just lose to Middle Tennessee.

Prediction: Clemson

Final Score: Clemson 47, Georgia Tech 31

Iowa State Cyclones at No. 15 TCU Horned Frogs

28 of 55

Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Last year, Iowa State certainly proved that it can win any game it plays. The bad news for Cyclones fans is that everyone will be extra prepared for Iowa State this year.

Granted, that won't stop the Cyclones from competing, but it will make upsets a lot more difficult to come by in 2012.

Prediction: TCU

Final Score: Iowa State 37, TCU 23

No. 17 Oklahoma Sooners at Texas Tech Red Raiders

29 of 55

Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Oklahoma heads over to Texas Tech to do battle with Tommy Tuberville's Red Raiders. The Raiders have not allowed more than 14 points in a single game this year and have had little issue finding the end zone themselves.

Oklahoma is the first of five straight ranked opponents for Tech through early November. If the Raiders want to have a strong showing in the Big 12 this year, this Oklahoma tilt is a must-win.

Prediction: Texas Tech

Final Score: Oklahoma 41, Texas Tech 20

Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Maryland Terrapins

30 of 55

Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Maryland has put up decent showings this year, at least defensively. Holding West Virginia to 31 points certainly looks impressive after seeing what the Mountaineers hung on Baylor last week.

Add Wake Forest's lackluster offense and home-field advantage for the Terrapins to the equation, and the projected outcome comes into focus a little better.

Prediction: Maryland

Final Score: Maryland 19, Wake Forest 14

Illinois Fighting Illini at Wisconsin Badgers

31 of 55

Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Wisconsin may have had a couple of bad games this year, but the Badgers are still in the mix for the Big Ten title. While the Badgers can certainly be beaten, Illinois is not going to be a contender this year.

The Illini may see six wins and a bowl game in 2012, but one of those wins won't be at the Badgers' expense.

Prediction: Wisconsin

Final Score: Wisconsin 31, Illinois 14

Tulsa Golden Hurricane at Marshall Thundering Herd

32 of 55

Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

This game is another potential barn-burner. While Tulsa and Marshall each have strengths and weaknesses, Marshall has the more glaring weakness.

The Thundering Herd tend to give up more points than the Golden Hurricane. That's not an equation that favors the Herd.

Prediction: Tulsa

Final Score: Tulsa 45, Marshall 38

Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks at Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders

33 of 55

Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

ULM continues its march toward glory in 2012 against Middle Tennessee. After upsetting Arkansas, taking Auburn to overtime and losing a tight game to Baylor, the Warhawks' schedule looks like a cakewalk for the rest of the season.

There are plenty of opportunities to lose as the weeks go by, but Middle Tennessee doesn't look like one of them. At least not on paper.

Prediction: Louisiana-Monroe

Final Score: ULM 31, Middle Tennessee St. 17

Michigan Wolverines at Purdue Boilermakers

34 of 55

Kickoff: 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Michigan has had issues putting its season back together following the 41-14 loss to Alabama in the season opener. As the Wolverines climbed back up the rankings, Notre Dame was there to kick them back down.

Purdue is ready to surprise some people, and hosting Michigan could be just the edge that the Boilermakers need to hand Michigan a third loss.

Prediction: Purdue

Final Score: Michigan 44, Purdue 13

New Mexico State Aggies at Idaho Vandals

35 of 55

Kickoff: 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

What we have here is a 1-4 team pitted against an 0-5 team. It's a hard call to make, but it's still a call to make.

While Idaho has allowed more points per game than New Mexico State has, the Aggies have not played a team like LSU. On the other hand, New Mexico State did beat its FCS opponent, whereas Idaho failed to score a touchdown against Eastern Washington.

Prediction: New Mexico State

Final Score: Idado 26, New Mexico state 18

Tulane Green Wave at Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns

36 of 55

Kickoff: 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Louisiana-Lafayette faces one of the worst-performing teams in the FBS. The Cajuns are looking for their fourth win while the Green Wave are simply looking for their first.

Lafayette is a good team and should have little issue qualifying for a bowl game this year. Tulane will get the Cajuns two-thirds of the way toward that goal.

Final Score: UL-Lafayette 41, Tulane 13

Washington State Cougars at No. 14 Oregon State Beavers

37 of 55

Kickoff: 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Washington State has come through Week 5 with a 2-3 record, compared to Oregon State's 3-0. Oregon State has now upset three teams in a row, and two of them were ranked.

That's how the Beavers managed to jump into the AP Top 25 with both feet. Oregon State should cruise right through this match, which may be the one reason to pick against them.

Oregon State has won all its games this year and was the underdog in all three. Maybe that's the key to the Beavers' success. We will find out Saturday.

Prediction: Oregon State

Final: Oregon State 19, Washington State 6

Texas State Bobcats at New Mexico Lobos

38 of 55

Kickoff: 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

New Mexico almost took down Boise State last week, falling short by a mere three points. Texas State has one FBS win over New Mexico State, and performed slightly worse than the Lobos against Texas Tech.

This game goes in the "should be close" category. Whether high-scoring or not, this game should provide tons of entertainment value.

Prediction: New Mexico

Final: New Mexico 35, Texas St. 14

No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs at No. 6 South Carolina Gamecocks

39 of 55

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

This game and the WVU-Texas game are the biggest games of the week, with the SEC showdown taking a slight edge due to the rankings of the teams involved.

South Carolina and Georgia have gone back and forth all season long. South Carolina had issues getting past Vanderbilt, while Georgia struggled with Missouri for three quarters. Georgia then turned around and dominated Vanderbilt, while South Carolina absolutely destroyed Missouri.

There has been no clear-cut reason to favor one team over another until last week, when Georgia and Tennessee attempted to make the West Virginia vs. Baylor match look like a warm-up.

Prediction: South Carolina

Final: South Carolina 35, Georgia 7

No. 8 West Virginia Mountaineers at No. 11 Texas Longhorns

40 of 55

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

West Virginia hung 70 points on Baylor last week, the same number it hung on Clemson in the Orange Bowl last year.

Texas dialed up 66 points on Ole Miss in Week 3, proving that the Longhorns aren't completely devoid of offense.

This game basically comes down to defense and offensive execution. Texas has a good defense, and WVU has none. If Texas can execute offensively, this game will be over by halftime.

Prediction: Texas

Final: West Virginia 48, Texas 45

Fresno State Bulldogs at Colorado State Rams

41 of 55

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Colorado State has a new coach and will be a formidable opponent in the near future. Not as soon as this week, mind you, but sooner rather than later.

Fresno State, however, is a formidable Mountain West opponent already. While the Rams will continue to grow throughout the season, Fresno State will come away with the win.

Prediction: Fresno State

Final: Fresno St. 28, Colorado St. 7

Vanderbilt Commodores at Missouri Tigers

42 of 55

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Vanderbilt and Missouri challenge each other for the first conference victory of their seasons. While Vanderbilt is on the way up in the SEC, the Commodores were a long way away from success when they started the trip toward the top.

Missouri has one of the best home crowds in the nation. Coach James Franklin of Vanderbilt versus James Franklin, the quarterback of Missouri—that's a battle that at least deserves a little attention from SEC fans.

Prediction: Missouri

Final: Vandy 18, Mizzou 15

Texas A&M Aggies at Ole Miss Rebels

43 of 55

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Texas A&M has a way of lighting up the scoreboard, having done so against every opponent except Florida.

The Aggies will take on the Ole Miss Rebels, and there's just no way to slice the pizza and come out with anything but an Aggie win.

Prediction: Texas A&M

Final: Texas A&M 30, Ole Miss 27

Rice Owls at Memphis Tigers

44 of 55

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Rice and Memphis both have issues with stopping teams from getting on the scoreboard, so this should be a relatively high-scoring game (nothing like WVU-Baylor, though).

The Owls are vying for their second win, and the Tigers are still looking for their first. The Memphis Tigers will need to look elsewhere.

Prediction: Rice

Final: Memphis 14, Rice 10

North Texas Mean Green at Houston Cougars

45 of 55

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

North Texas has held opponents to 22.2 points per game, including a payday slaughter by the LSU Tigers that ended 41-14. Houston has had issues scoring against everyone but Louisiana Tech.

With the Mean Green stepping into Houston's house, look for the Cougars to add a second team to the list of squads they lit up.

Prediction: Houston

Final: Houston 44, North Texas 21

Miami (OH) Redhawks at Cincinnati Bearcats

46 of 55

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Cincinnati is still looking to gain the respect of the voters, as it's the only team that's an undefeated candidate for the Big East title that isn't in the rankings.

Miami's downfall will be its scoring defense, something it has very little of. The Redhawks will merely serve as the Bearcats' next meal on the way to a potential conference title this season.

Prediction: Cincinnati

Final: Cincinnati 52, Miami(OH) 14

UNLV Rebels at Louisiana Tech Bulldogs

47 of 55

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

UNLV has one win this season, and Louisiana Tech has zero losses. LA Tech has taken down Houston, Rice, Illinois and Virginia so far this season. UNLV's lone win is a three-point squeaker over Air Force.

LA Tech has a good shot at winning the WAC, and UNLV will not stand in the way.

Prediction: Louisiana Tech

Final: Louisiana Tech 58, UNLV 31

Wyoming Cowboys at Nevada Wolf Pack

48 of 55

Kickoff: 7:05 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Nevada (4-1) takes on Wyoming (1-3) in a Mountain West Conference showdown. Nevada's a newcomer to the conference and would like nothing better than to take down this year's underachieving Boise State Broncos and claim the championship in its inaugural year.

Wyoming would like nothing better than to turn its season around at the expense of the Wolf Pack. Hey, if ULM can beat Arkansas, right?

Prediction: Nevada

Final: Nevada 35, Wyoming 28 in OT

Miami (FL) Hurricanes at No. 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

49 of 55

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Miami (FL) has only lost to one opponent this year, and that was Kansas State. So far, the Hurricanes are undefeated in conference play.

Notre Dame has slowly but surely earned its way into the top 10 and has yet to lose a game. The Hurricanes would need to field a top-10 defense in order to take the Irish down, but their scoring defense is ranked 100th.

Miami will do everything in its power to use its 15th-ranked passing attack to carve the Irish defense up. That will probably not be enough to walk away with a win, though.

Prediction: Notre Dame

Final Score: Notre Dame 41, Miami 3

No. 3 Florida State Seminoles at NC State Wolfpack

50 of 55

Kickoff: 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Florida State has made it through one of the major tests of its season already after defeating Clemson. The biggest tests left are Miami (FL) and Florida.

The Seminoles' toughest test this week is to maintain focus and take NC State as a serious threat. The Wolfpack don't have any trouble putting up points, especially if you take your eye off them.

Prediction: Florida State

Final Score: North Carolina State 17, Florida STate 16

No. 21 Nebraska Cornhuskers at No. 12 Ohio State Buckeyes

51 of 55

Kickoff: 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Nebraska vs. Ohio State is a game with Big Ten implications written all over it. Both teams are undefeated in conference play, but have only played one conference match apiece.

Ohio State would love to win this one even though it is ineligible for postseason play, including the Big Ten title bout.

Nebraska has been underachieving this season and needs to step it up to contend for anything in 2012.

Prediction: Ohio State

Final Score: Ohio State 63, Nebraska 38

Hawaii Warriors at San Diego State Aztecs

52 of 55

Kickoff: 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

San Diego State hosts Hawaii in an attempt to maintain its slim conference lead over the Warriors. Considering Hawaii ranks outside the top 100 in passing yardage, rushing yardage, scoring offense and scoring defense, the Aztecs should have this one locked down by halftime.

Prediction: San Diego State

Final Score: San Diego State 52, Hawaii 14

SMU Mustangs at UTEP Miners

53 of 55

Kickoff: 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

UTEP and SMU both have one win each, but only UTEP's win is over an FBS opponent (New Mexico State). UTEP's scoring defense is ranked slightly higher than SMU's. Both teams have faced three schools from major conferences.

UTEP has the more balanced offense, so that should keep the Mustangs guessing. Add home-field advantage to the mix, and you've got a favorite.

Prediction: UTEP

Final Score: SMU 17, UTEP 0

No. 25 UCLA Bruins at California Golden Bears

54 of 55

Kickoff: 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

Cal and UCLA have a great rivalry and should put on an entertaining show. Cal has not taken down a ranked team yet this season, but rivalry games are special.

Home-field advantage will play to Cal's favor, but not quite enough.

Prediction: UCLA

No. 23 Washington at No. 2 Oregon

55 of 55

Kickoff: 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6

The final ranked-versus-ranked match of the week is between Washington and Oregon. Oregon is trying to remain at No. 2 in the polls, while Washington is fighting simply to stay ranked at all.

Oregon needs to stay focused and play to its potential, but it's still Oregon. There is a huge gap in talent between the two teams.

Of course, the games are played for a reason, and Washington is fresh off a game that gave them a lot of hope for the season.

Prediction: Oregon
