Nick Sundberg Designated for Return, and More NFC East News

Jun 7, 2018

This season, every NFL team—even Oakland—has the right to designate one player for return when sending him to the injured reserve. And one week into the season, the Washington Redskins have taken advantage of that rule by slapping the designation on long snapper Nick Sundberg, who broke his arm in the opener.

As CSN Washington's Rich Tandler points out, this closes a door. As important as long snappers are (did you watch Monday Night Football?) this could bite the 'Skins when they have to ground a more prominent player later in the season.

The problem is that they couldn't afford to use two roster spots on long snappers, but will replacement Justin Snow be a significant downgrade? I'm not sure this was a good decision.

From Richard Hofmann of the Philadelphia Daily News: If the Eagles turn Michael Vick loose again, they will be destined to fail.

From Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post: Robert Griffin III is back on the cover of Sports Illustrated, or at least the East Coast Edition. (How stupid is that, by the way?)
