NBA Rumors: 8 Teams That Would Be a Perfect Fit for Aaron Brooks

Danny DukkerJun 7, 2018

The NBA Lockout might now be a distant memory in the minds of most fans, but there are still a few things that need to be straightened out.

Aaron Brooks is one of the players that decided to go overseas while the negotiations were going on, and he looks to come back strong this season. He wants to play, and at 27 years old he can still contribute to teams for a long time.

Brooks told Hoopsworld's Alex Kennedy that he's ready to be a starter, but if he doesn't get that opportunity, he's looking to win Sixth Man of the Year.

He should receive many offers this offseason, but there are eight teams that would be best suited for his talents.

Phoenix Suns

1 of 8

The last NBA team Aaron Brooks played for was the Phoenix Suns.  He seemed to enjoy his time there and by all accounts would not mind returning.

Steve Nash seems to be on his way out and the Suns have a league high $23 million available cap space to sign multiple free agents. They could easily acquire Brooks to help their starting lineup or their bench.

Hopefully, his shot selection improves and he will be able to improve on his 43 percent shooting that he left the Suns with.

As of now, Phoenix could be considered the favorite as Brooks did enjoy playing there and it will be a good place to prove himself.

Boston Celtics

2 of 8

The Celtics averaged just under 92 points a game last year, good for 26th in the league. They are a team that is historically known for their great defense and it is that same defense that has got the job done this season.

However, if they add a spark to their offense they could continue being a threat in the East and could even improve their standing. The Celtics need a quality backup for Rajon Rondo and they simply don’t have one.

A scoring presence off the bench that can give Rondo some rest would be welcomed with open arms in Boston.

Brooklyn Nets

3 of 8

The Nets are a team with absolutely no viable backup at the point guard position and they may be without a starting point guard as well after this upcoming offseason.

If Deron Williams stays, they have a good backup for him. If he leaves, they have a legitimate starter. The Nets need Brooks, and I would be surprised if they don’t make a serious play in order to pick him up.

Chicago Bulls

Derrick Rose is most likely not going to be back until February, and while CJ Watson is OK, picking up Brooks would be a great option for Chicago.

Once Rose comes back, he will not have to play many minutes right away, and Brooks will give them a starter who can play big minutes while Rose is recovering and trying to readjust to the speed of the game.

Memphis Grizzlies

5 of 8

The Memphis offense ranked 20th in the league this season, and they present no scoring threats at the point guard position (sorry Gilbert). They need all the offensive help they can get and, Brooks can be an easy solution.

He won’t drastically turn around their offensive struggles, but he will help a considerable amount, and they should finish in the top 15 on offense if he goes there.

Charlotte Bobcats

6 of 8

Name a free agent and the Bobcats could use him. There is not one single player who I would not recommend Charlotte needs to go after.

Brooks would immediately become their go-to scorer, and he is way more qualified for it than anyone on the team.

Cleveland Cavaliers

7 of 8

The guard situation in Cleveland is terrible, and they can use another solid player there alongside Kyrie Irving. Their offense ranked 22nd in the league this past season, and an extra scorer could really help in improving that number.

The Cavaliers could be a very interesting team to watch next season if their offseason goes right.

New Orleans Hornets

8 of 8

You can easily go with the Raptors here as well, but at least they have a proven point guard and a project shooting guard in the lineup.

The Hornets, on the other hand, have neither. If Eric Gordon leaves, their situation will become even worse. Their roster needs a whole lot of help and, at least they could start with Brooks.
