San Francisco 49ers: Mike Wallace Would Be a Perfect Fit in West Coast Offense
Mike Wallace has expressed interest in playing for the San Francisco 49ers if he doesn't get a contract done with the Pittsburgh Steelers, a development that could be absolutely perfect for the 49ers.
Wallace, when asked if he was interested in playing for either the 49ers or the New England Patriots, said:
"Most definitely. Those are two playoff-caliber teams. Super Bowl-caliber teams. I think that the right person or the right piece for those guys could put them over the top. All they need is one more piece...

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Of course, you have to consider that these recent comments could just be to light a fire under the seat of the front office of the Steelers. Wallace followed up his comments about the 49ers and Patriots by saying:
"I wouldn't want to go anywhere and leave the situation where I am at with a great quarterback, a great organization or go somewhere where I don't feel like I could succeed.
"
Still, these comments are further proof that things between the Steelers and their star wide receiver could stand to get a bit cozier. If they're not careful, he will be gone.
From the perspective of the 49ers, landing Wallace would be the ultimate score. Forget about DeSean Jackson, Vincent Jackson, Stevie Johnson and the rest.
Wallace is the missing piece, as he said himself, to what the 49ers need on offense. Not only can he streak down the sidelines or across the deep middle as well as any other receiver in the game with his amazing speed, but how many times this year did you see him take a short slant to the house?
Wallace would fit in perfectly with the 49ers West Coast offense. He can take any pass the distance from anywhere on the field. Additionally, he will demand a double-team, leaving Vernon Davis, Delanie Walker and Michael Crabtree with opportunities for one-on-one coverage.
The 49ers could land him by offering him a bigger contract than the Steelers, and all they would have to give up to get him would be their first-round pick.
Many fans are hopeful the team lands one of the second-tier wide receivers coming out of the draft with the same pick, and I'd much rather have Wallace than any of them.
What's your take? Would you support the 49ers giving up a first-round pick for Wallace?
I know I would.
