
Real Salt Lake Apologizes to J.J. Watt, Honors Kealia Ohai Watt in Social Media Post
Real Salt Lake has apologized to Kealia Ohai Watt and J.J. Watt after Ohai Watt was not recognized in a social media post on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, the Watt family arrived in Salt Lake City to watch Burnley FC take on Real Salt Lake in a friendly. The Watts are minority investors in the EFL Championship side.
Real Salt Lake made a post recognizing JJ Watt, a former star NFL edge-rusher and three-time Defensive Player of the Year who is headed to the Pro Football Hall of Fame someday, and family.
In the picture, Watt was seen walking hand-in-hand with Kealia and their eldest son, Koa James Watt.
JJ Watt responded to Real Sale Lake's initial post.
Kealia Ohai Watt, who was born and raised in Utah, is a much-accomplished athlete. Her accolades including eight NWSL seasons with 35 goals, including a career-high 11 in 2016 and three appearances for the U.S. women's national team. In her first one, Ohai Watt set a record for the fastest goal in a debut match (48 seconds) in a friendly vs. Switzerland. She also won the 2012 NCAA championship with UNC and was named the tournament's most outstanding offensive player.
She also starred in Utah as a high school athlete before going onto UNC, with accolades including three-time first-team high school All-America honors and a 2010 NSCAA National High School Player of the Year recognition.
