What's At Stake?
Miami is trying to figure out how to win on the road and heading to Detroit may be the perfect place to start.
The Heat have lost their last three away from Miami and are hoping to snap that streak tonight.
They have been crushing the Pistons lately, winning four of their last games and nine of the past 10.
Detroit may be without some of their best players and they were crushed by the Thunder in the absence of Ben Gordon, Will Bynum and Charlie Villanueva.
It would take a miracle for them to pull this one out.
What They're Saying
LeBron James could be pondering an opt-out after the 2013-14 season, according to Sam Amico of FOX Sports Ohio:
"There is talk that James is less-than-thrilled with certain aspects of the Heat organization. Sources in Miami say that while James still thoroughly enjoys playing alongside fellow stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, he doesn’t particularly care for the heavy-handed and disciplined style of team president Pat Riley.
"
Pistons president Joe Dumars had high praise for Brandon Knight, as reported by Perry A. Farrell of the Detroit Free Press.
"You pull him aside and talk to him about a weakness, something you have to improve on, you can best believe that the next time you see him on the court, he’s either working on it or you can see he’s trying to improve on it. That’s the true mark right there. When you talk to a young guy and say here’s a shortcoming you have, here’s a hole in your game, and you see him put hours and hours into it and see him start to improve on it right away, then you know this kid’s got something in him to be great. Because that’s all greatness is – continuing to get better and better and better and never being satisfied.
"
Heat Player to Watch: Chris Bosh
Bosh was instrumental down the stretch against the Cavaliers last night, scoring 17 of his 35 in the fourth quarter and helping the Heat win after a tough start.
He may be the crunch-time scorer that Miami needs while Wade is out with injury.
Pistons Player to Watch: Brandon Knight
Miami’s weaknesses are at their point guard and center position.
See if Knight can exploit this by harassing the opposing guard on defense and blowing past them and into the lane on offense.
Key Matchup: Attrition
Both of these teams have banged-up stars and cannot afford to lose anymore.
If someone goes down in this game with an injury, it’s really going to affect them, as there is little talent on both benches.
Prediction
Heat 99 – Pistons 88
