Manchester United: Predicting United's Top 5 Goalscorers This Season

0 of 5

Manchester United, the Champions the last season of Premier League, are the sure favorites to win the Premier League this year also. The Scotsman Alex Ferguson's side looks better than before, with new faces coming into the squad and giving an air of freshness and youth in the team.

Today, the Premier League starts again with all eyes on it, as United will face serious competition in the initial weeks from its close rivals. The teams of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City also look stronger and can always pose a serious threat to United's title. However, the preseason games might have assured United that they still have the edge over their opponents in the league.

Dimitar Berbatov ended as the top goalscorer last season, along with City's Carlos Tevez. However, Berbatov looks to be out of favor with Sir Alex, so this year, who will end up as the highest goalscorer in Red Devils? Will it be "The bull" Wayne Rooney, the winning wingers or the sensational Chicharito?

The slideshow will take you through the predicted top goalscorers for United this season.  Glory Glory Goals... United.

Wayne Rooney: Unleash the Powerhouse

1 of 5

Wayne Rooney, the Manchester United powerhouse, has slowly developed himself into the role of a playmaker besides being a striker.

For the occasion, Rooney can come back and defend, can sit in the core of the midfield and organise the game and can rise forward like a bull past defenders and net the ball.

Rooney had an average last season, though he came back to his form during the end of the season.

His scoring abilities and dominance over central defenders can never be written off, and given his present form, Wayne still is the favorite to be the leading goalscorer in United.

Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez: The Sensation

2 of 5

Chicharito had a wonder debut season with United, scoring 13 goals and two assists.

He mostly scored after coming as a substitute, and has slowly made a starting place for himself in United squad, overtaking his fellow teammate Dimitar Berbatov.

He is likely to be one of the favorites for the top goalscorer this season.

Luis Nani: Skillful Wings

3 of 5

Nani does not need an introduction when it comes to his play for United and Old Trafford.

Nani is fast, skillful, damaging with his dribbles past the defenders and can score both from close and long ranges. He finished the last season with nine goals.

The preseason games and the community shield match against Manchester City also show why Nani will be a major threat to all the defenses this season.

Ashley Young: Best Buy This Summer?

4 of 5

With David De Gea still clumsy over the goal and Phil Jones still needing time to develop to the next level, it is Ashley Young who can take United gameplay to the ultimate this season.

Young was wonderful for Aston Villa last season and scored seven goals for Villa last time. This time he is in the Red Devils shirt, with better and stronger team members, and he has every chance of ending the season with a double-number figure of goals.

Young produced an impressive performance in his debut season match against West Bromwich Albion, and we wish him all the best for his future games and scoring.

Danny Welbeck: The Rising Star

5 of 5

Danny Welbeck is surely one of the most promising players that EPL is going to see for the coming years.

Welbeck was sent on loan to Sunderland last season, and he had an impressive spell over there, scoring six goals for Steve Bruce's team.

Sir Alex thought that Danny will be here with United this time, as he plans to utilise and play his younger members more to strengthen the team for future. And Welbeck will surely be a thing to watch.
