AC Milan go top of Serie A for first time since 2004

AC Milan 1 - Napoli 0 (Serie A, November 2, 2008) (Longer highlights here.) Napoli’s Argentine forward German Denis gifted Milan all three points last night by heading into his own net with four minutes remaining at the San Siro. The win lifted the Rossoneri into first place for the first time since 2004.

Lazio 1 - Catania 0 (Serie A, November 2, 2008) An 85th minute winner from Pasquale Foggia gave Lazio the spoils in a hard fought victory over Catania.

Udinese 2 - Genoa  2 (Serie A, November 2, 2008) Gaetano D’Agostino fired high-flying Udinese into an early lead over Genoa from the penalty spot. Genoa hit back in the second half, Diego Milito levelled from the penalty spot and three minutes later Sculli fired the visitors ahead. Udinese fought back, Quagliarella equalising for the hosts.

Daniele Conti made it 2-1 three minutes after the restart, Acquafresca scored again in the 52nd minute, before Jeda netted a late brace (69 and 85) to pile the misery on Bologna.

Ascoli 1 - Rimini 1 (Serie B, November 3, 2008) Rimini found the lead in the first half when Ricchiuti’s chipped pass was expertly volleyed past former Manchester United keeper Massimo Taibi by Cipriani. But just as it seemed that the visitors would take the points, Cioffi’s last minute tap in rescued Ascoli a point.
