Premier League Transfer News: Wesley Sneijder, Luka Modric, Sanchez, Lukaku

Will TideyJun 7, 2018

Another week of rampant Premier League transfer gossip comes to an end with plenty to talk about.

The Luka Modric affair drags on at Tottenham with the playmaker as desperate to leave as Spurs are to keep him.

Meanwhile, some reports have Wesley Sneijder on the verge of a move to England. Others say there's little more than conjecture behind the rumours.

Here are those two and a couple more to keep you going over the weekend.

Manchester United Transfer Rumors: £35 Million Wesley Sneijder Deal Latest

1 of 4

Goal.com reported yesterday that Manchester United had agreed a £35.2 million fee for Inter Milan's Dutch international midfielder Wesley Sneijder.

Read that report here, but bear in mind the transfer may still be some way off, according to a host of sources this morning.

The Daily Mirror quote Sir Alex Ferguson as saying he has, "no real interest" in signing Sneijder.

The Daily Mail says Ferguson has been put off by the £35 million price tag, and the midfielder's wage demands of at least £190,000/week.

The suggestion is that unless Inter are prepared to lower their price, and Sneijder his personal demands, the deal won't happen.

The general consensus is that United remain keen to sign Sneijder, a player they see as the ideal replacement for Paul Scholes, but Ferguson in particular is unwilling to pay over the odds.

The saga continues. Please post updates as comments as it unfolds today.

Chelsea Transfer Rumours: Romelu Lukaku Talks Break Down over £30m Price Tag

2 of 4

Footybunker.com are reporting that talks between Chelsea and Anderlecht over a deal for Romelu Lukaku have broken down.

Chelsea have been courting the 18-year-old striker all summer, but Belgian side Anderlecht are apparently playing hardball over the asking price.

They want £30 million for the Belgium international striker, who has scored 31 goals in 71 appearances for Anderlect.

But Chelsea think the price is too high, and will reportedly go away to return for more talks in August.

By that time they hope Anderlecht will be ready to countenance a lower offer. The Belgian club would apparently be happy to keep Lukaku for another season if the deal doesn't come to fruition however.

Manchester United Transfer Rumours: Alexis Sanchez Set to Join Barcelona

3 of 4

Things had gone a little quiet on the Alexis Sanchez recently, but the Chile star in back in the headlines today.

According to this report at talksport.co.uk, the Udinese winger is set to disappoint Manchester United and Manchester City by joining European champions Barcelona.

Talksport claim reports in Italy are putting the fee at around £27 million and expect the deal to go through in the next week or so.

Sanchez had been heavily linked with a move to Manchester earlier in the summer, but it seems the lure of La Liga has won out.

The report also says the player himself has previously expressed a desire to play for Barca.

When you consider he'd be feeding off a supply line from Xavi and Andres Iniesta, it's easy to see why.

Tottenham Transfer Rumours: Spurs Block Chelsea Move for Luka Modric

4 of 4

Tottenham are standing firm on their decision to keep Luka Modric at White Hart Lane next season, whatever it takes.

The Croatian playmaker has been subject to a £27 million offer from Chelsea, and yesterday handed in a transfer request, but both the club's chairman and manager are fiercely determined to deny him an exit.

This report at the Daily Mail lays out the current situation. Redknapp knows Modric wants to leave, but makes the point that the 25-year-old has achieved nothing by putting his desires down in writing.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is taking an even stronger stance. He says the club has no intention of selling any of their best players this summer.

Modric has accused Levy of breaking a gentleman's agreement. He claims Levy agreed he could leave for a big club this summer when he signed a new deal last year.

Modric has reportedly confronted Levy about the situation, but to no avail.
