Tottenham vs Arsenal

In many ways, April 20 2011 could be a turning point not only in EPL 2010-11 season but also in the North London derby Rivalry.

This day involves two games: Chelsea Vs Birmingham and Tottenham Vs Arsenal.

The outcome of this day would directly impact how the EPL 2010-11 season pans out, especially in top half of the league table.

Tottenham have a great chance of winning a league double over Arsenal for the first time in premier league era (or after more than three decades in League football). In the last two years, we have seen them challenging their neighbours.

After a long time, they could go in to a match against Arsenal as favourites.

Arsenal's Forward line has a edge over Tottenham in-terms of form and class. But, Tottenham with constant investment over last 4-5 years, have now got a team that could challenge Arsenal on every level.

They have a great team bonding. They have Individuals who could win the game on their own and a midfield that could create as many chances as Arsenal midfield ,if not more.

But the team that holds the nerve would win the tie. One moment of brilliance or one moment of stupidity could give the win to either team.

In Emirates earlier this year, Arsenal inexplicably lost their nerve and surrendered their 2-0 lead to a dramatic late win for Spurs.

To me, Spurs with the home advantage start as favourites. Arsenal, on their part, would want to set things right in title race.

Following Results are possible.

Arsenal Win

If Arsenal win the local derby, it could mean they resurrect their chances for title bid. This could very well get their focus back from a indifferent form.

They would have their admirable record over Tottenham intact and in process derail Tottenham's chance of qualifying to Champions League for next year.

The loss for Spurs might not end their journey for CL, but would make their job mission impossible.

If Results go Arsenal's way, they could narrow down United lead to four points and hope to win the title from there on.

Chelsea Win & Tottenham Win

Tottenham win their First league Double over Arsenal in the Premier League era (and after 1974, if I am not wrong).

Chelsea overtake Arsenal to Second place and challenge Manchester United for the title in the remaining five games.

Last season, Tottenham faced a tough task of facing Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City to qualify to the champions league spot. They won against Arsenal and the rest was history. This time they face a even tougher challenge of facing Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool to attain the coveted CL spot.

A win against Arsenal would definitely not assure them a fourth spot but give them the much needed belief to go through their campaign.

Chelsea had a unbelievable start to their season and then inexplicably slumped to their lowest league position for a long time in next three months. They have showed great character and courage to come back again to the title fray.

On their way, they had help from their Ever-Spending Owner and also some indifferent form from their competitors. From fifth in the league a month back, they are knocking the second place.

If the results go their way, we could even see Chelsea toppling Arsenal of second place and be within six points from United on April 20.

Draw

A draw would be extremely disappointing for both teams. Obviously, it would boost the hopes of United, Chelsea and City.

Prediction

I wont predict the scoreline, as it would seem a definite bias towards my team.

Whatever may be the outcome, I believe it would be a great game.

May the best team win.
