Anderson Deco: A Bargain For £8million?
It may only be early days in the Premier League, but after having watched Chelsea's unspectacular 1-0 win over Wigan yesterday, I think the goalscorer Deco could be a bargain for £8million.
The Brazilian-Portuguese playmaker scored a fantastic free-kick yesterday, smashing the ball into the top left hand corner. It was a great free-kick that obviously took hours of practice to master.
But one of the reason's why I think he's a bargain, is because every time he stands over a free-kick, you expect something from him. As I saw him step up to take that free-kick, for some reason I expected it to go into the back of the net. And it did.
Mike Pollitt had no chance. Deco is a set-piece specialist. A great way to get goals for your team.
Deco has had a great start to life the Premier League. He played fantastically well on his debut, assissting the second goal and scoring the fourth with a cracker of a shot. He has two goals in two games, two crackers in two games.
This could be a regular thing you know, amazing goals from Deco. Judging by the way these two went in, he could also be getting a goal a game, so long as Chelsea get a free-kick each match.
Another reason why I think he's a bargain is because of his ability to set up goals. He can put great balls into the box (like he did for Chelsea's second against Pompey) and has the eye for a good pass. He could definitely be topping the assists chart this season.
I just can't understand why Barcelona would let a player like Deco go. He's a great player, and an absolute bargain for £8million. No wonder Chelsea jumped in when he was for sale—especially at that price. Why would Barca sell him for so little, they could've easily got more.
Maybe at 31 years old Deco only has a few years left in him, so that could be a reason, or it might just be because of the credit crunch in England, Barca felt sorry for Chelsea with having to pay extra for everything. That could just be a possibility you know.
Whatever the reason, it is clear that what is Barca's loss, is Chelsea's gain. Deco has proved the Spanish and Portuguese critics wrong, and has proved the English right. Anderson Deco is a bargain for £8million.
What do you think? Is Deco a bargain for £8million? Is it too early decide on that?
Can he play well for more than just one season? Please feel free to leave a comment.
