So I didn’t win. The award went to 9ja Gunners . Congratulations to him for an outstanding achievement. Like Arsene, I’m a sore loser and all I can say is that if there’s going  to be an award ceremony then I’m definitely gonna pull a Kanye West at the event! While I’m not going to be gracious in defeat, I’m thankful for the opportunity to participate and hopeful for a better voting system next year.

Registered NOT IP TRACKED VOTES are the future! Full credit should go to the organizers , maybe next year we’ll win something. I’d like to thank all who nominated, campaigned, and voted for me. God Bless you all! My goal for 2010 was to make The Green Gooner the No. 1 Arsenal Blog in Africa . It’s still only June, there is still time to achieve that!

I’m sick of all the Joe Cole to Arsenal stories  we’ve been fed with in the last week. Someone on Twitter mentioned that he signed at least five times for us last week if you believe the stories.

Add that to all the Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona stories and I’m literarily throwing up in my desk drawer!

Nevertheless, there are two things I’m certain of. Firstly, you can forget about Joe Cole signing for Arsenal or any other club until England get knocked out of the World Cup. Should they get as far as the semifinals, expect news of his preferred club from Monday July 12 .

Also, if Barcelona fail to sign Cesc by Friday, you can apply the afore stated rule to him  with the exception that it will be more difficult for them to sign him at that time for two reasons.

Firstly, there is talk of Arsenal insisting Barcelona increase their bid for Cesc to £60m . He could potentially have a brilliant World Cup and Arsenal would then decide to raise the asking price (if they ever decide to negotiate) just to test their resolve with the excuse that the player’s value had soared as he has just had a great World Cup and threaten them with the thought of Real Madrid entering the bidding war for him.

In a situation where Spain go all the way to the final, it is possible that we could have announced new signings to strengthen the team by then.

This scenario could remind Cesc of our determination to be as competitive as possible and possibly change his mind about leaving. That’s all speculation for now and as Cesc said, it’s all in Arsene’s hands! Alternatively, we could just insist that we aren’t negotiating with Barcelona! Who knows?

It seems that our interest in Lorient centre back Laurent Koscielny is far from waning as Arsenal have made a fresh £8m bid for him . Reports suggest we had a bid of £6m rejected on last week and that we have given them a deadline of Thursday to accept. Like I said a while ago, I don’t watch the French League but I hear he’s a pretty decent player and I’m hoping he can have the same kind of impact Thomas Vermaelen had last season.

We also seem to have snuffed away an interest from Deportivo for Carlos Vela . The young Mexican had limited opportunities last season but has been influential in Mexico’s run up to the World Cup scoring a goal in the 2-1 defeat of World Champions Ital y. He also scored with his right foot!

I must admit that while I’ve been a big fan of the lad for a while, I felt largely underwhelmed by his performances last season. I’m hoping that it was just second season syndrome and that he’s rediscovered the brilliant form that endeared him to our hearts.

Don’t be surprised if Barcelona come sniffing for Gael Clichy! We’ll simply tell them no…AGAIN! He didn’t have the best of seasons last year due to injury but his performances towards the end of the season were vastly improved culminating in a place on the French World Cup squad.

We’ve got Kieran Gibbs and Armand Traore as back up but I’m not sure either of them is ready to step up to be the first choice for now. I think it will be easier for Barcelona to sign Fabregas than it wil be to sign Clichy. That by the way is no joke; I’m dead serious!

I’m going to have to leave it there for today as I’ve got more to say, but it’ll probably come out on my other blog www.ahonohai.com
